E/N:

Hello! I'll be taking over the translations from here! Since Ott Enthusiast has expressed their intention to drop this series, I'll be picking it up. After all, it's long past ETA October 25th. I did message them a week ago and they haven't replied so I'm just going to proceed. Keep in mind, my translations might be of lower quality since I'm just doing heavy editing on a machine translation (DeepL), but hopefully it's something pleasant to read. The previous translation stopped at around halfway through Chapter 22, but I decided to just redo the whole chapter. Previous chapters are linked on Novel Updates. >> https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-magical-revolution-of-the-reincarnated-princess-and-the-genius-young-lady/. A note from the future, I have begun reediting the chapters to fix mistakes and make a few changes. The names now follow the ones the anime uses and I am removing the Japanese honorifics in the reedited chapters.

Episode 22: What Leads to Madness (Full Version)

"There is a good chance that the so called 'vampires' have survived to the present day. I theorize that the original vampire was actually a human being who transformed into the demon known as a 'vampire.' I've probably got some parts right and some parts right and some parts wrong. To be more precise, I think the term 'vampire' should be used to describe the 'heirs to the demon stone that grant the abilities of the demon known as vampires.'"

The genesis of the vampire began with a certain wizard's realization that he was dying.

He developed 'vampiric magic' to sustain his own body, even at the expense of others.

"For example, the ability to take lifeforce from others via their blood, and the power of mental coercion to prevent the discomfort of blood deprivation." (Anis)

Their abilities could be used to create kin, gather allies, or pass on magical skills.

After all, if he transcended mortality, he would've easily been able to find others who desired eternal life and youth, regardless of the depravity of such a method.

It's not hard to imagine that there would be many who were willing to become apprentices to benefit from said magic.

Perhaps that is why vampires were said to be demons. In fact, it's more than enough to have banished them from the world as heretics. Since they harmed people, they deserve to be ostracized.

However, there was a persistent wizard who tried to transcend death. Was he taking countermeasures, or was he optimizing and evolving out of necessity? We have no way of knowing which motive came first, but those who became vampires renounced their humanity, thus remaking their existence.

"The culmination of this process is the demon stone. I think it probably took root as an organ for the usage of vampire magic. To acquire vampiric abilities, one must inherit a demon stone. As the inheritor grows, so does the demon stone. Then, the demon stone is passed on to the next generation." (Anis)

That is why vampires increase the number of their kin. That leaves the question of whether they bear children like humans or whether they propagate through biting as told in lore.

We can't be sure of the truth, but we can make a prediction. Vampires are close to people because they come from humans. Perhaps it could be said that they are new race born from mankind.

"I think the reason Lainie has never felt vampiric urges before is because her body doesn't require them. After all, the magic stone was dormant. It would be more natural to assume that she was birthed as a vampire rather than 'converted' to a vampire." (Anis) (1)

"So, I can activate it on command?" (Lainie)

"If you recognize yourself as vampire and want to use your power by circulating magic through your demon stone, then your body might naturally need the stone. Perhaps an ordinary human lacks the magical power to fuel the demon stone's powers. If that's the case, then you would naturally understand the art of stealing lifeforce, almost as if it were an inborn instinct."
