"Anyone who can recite what's written in Section 6, Article 1126 " there she is again, it's a trap. Asking us to recite first and later on will demand an explanation of the topic. I boredly spins my pen around my fingers while looking outside. Time is really ticking slow with this class.
"No one? Nag aral ba talaga kayo? Didn't I told you to read this topic in advance? Pasalamat nga kayo dahil hindi na dapat kayo pinaaalahanan bilang college. I'll just call someone for the recit" the faces of my block mates turn pale as she said that while the one beside me started praying or memorizing the said topic "Miss Amstel? Don't you have game today?" Napatayo naman ako nang marinig surname ko.
"Yes, ma'am but the coach said I'm just bench player for today so I decided to join the class instead" Ani ko at ngumiti. Hirap nitong landiin dahil matanda na.
"Since you're here kindly recite Section 6, Article 1126" nawala ang ngiti ko nang sabihin niya 'yun. Sabi na eh.
"IN OBLIGATIONS WITH A PENAL CLAUSE, THE PENALTY SHALL SUBSTITUTE THE INDEMNITY FOR DAMAGES AND THE PAYMENT OF INTERESTS IN CASE OF NONCOMPLIANCE, IF THERE IS NO STIPULATION TO THE CONTRARY. NEVERTHELESS, DAMAGES SHALL BE PAID IF THE OBLIGOR REFUSES TO PAY THE PENALTY OR IS GUILTY OF FRAUD IN THE FULFILLMENT OF THE OBLIGATION" I said while looking directly at her then she nods afterward.
"Good. Sit down. Ms. Sales, explain what does mean" nalilito naman akong umupo. Don't tell me, naawa ito sa'kin dahil lang dun sa sinabi kong bench player lang ako? Usually she will have a follow up question pa eh.
The recitation went on until the time is over. Gisado 'yung sunod na tinawag sa'kin kaya nagtawag ng iba hanggang halos lahat nakatayo at nabunutan lang ng tinik ng mag dismissed na.
"Muntik na ako mahimatay kanina buti 'di ako natawag. Yung kaba ko daig pa nagpalpitate dahil sa kape. Pakinggan mo" Kleo held my hand then place it where her heart is. Agad ko naman itong binawi.
"That's what you get for not studying well" I said at kinuha ang bag ni Lily bago pa man niya ito isukbit. "Let me carry this. Geez, too many books" I commented.
"Favoritism ka talaga. Pakibitbit 'din ang akin" aniya at inabot ito so I took it while rolling my eyes.
"Kayong dalawa talaga, pareho na naman kayong nagclubbing kagabi. Magtino nga kayo. Salamat nga pala sa pagdadala niyan, Xy" Lily said and smiled sweetly and there's my heart throbbing again.
"You know what's funny? I drank recite the whole thing last night but I can't remember a single shit kanina. Buti nalang talaga I wasn't called" Kleo said and exaggerates so napailing ako.
"Ayos lang naman 'yung sagot ko kanina, diba guys?" Lily asked. I know she'll be like this afterwards. She just lack confidence even though matalino naman talaga ito but I understand since she's an achiever. Hindi nga ito sumasama sa hangouts namin pero nagpapakalunod naman sa libro lagi.
"Oo naman, girl. Alam mo naman 'yun si ma'am, if hindi ka tinigilan kakatanong means tama mga sagot mo but just testing you hanggang saan ang knowledge mo" Kleo said so I nod.
"She's right so avoid dwelling with it na. I'll treat you for doing great kanina" I said at umiling naman ito.
"Hindi na, magkikita pa kasi kami ni ---- Vin!" napalingon din ako sa tinitignan niya so I almost scoff. "Hi, baby. Let's go?" Ani nung jowa niya so kinuha nito sa'kin ang bag niya at nagpaalam na.
"Hoy, tanga. Yung nguso mo abot na sa sahig. Bitter ka pa rin masyado" Kleo said na sumusunod pa din sa'kin.
"I'm not. That guy just giving me bad vibes" I said at nakakunot noong naglalakad. Some were greeting me whenever I pass by so I just gave a small smile.
