Chapter 7: Glimpse of Her Life

Sage Riley's POV

"After considering all the evidence presented in three hearings, we come up with a verdict of Mr. Ocampo rape charges"

The four corners of the room filled with silence waiting for the Judge's verdict. I may appear calm but I can loudly hear my heart bursting from inside. While fidgeting a little, I am hoping they hear what I wanted. I worked hard for this case and it's absolute that he is indeed guilty so I can't forgive myself if it turns out what I wasn't expecting.

"Mr. Ocampo, you are guilty of rape with life imprisonment as you show no remorse and have no way to lessen the punishment. Case closed."

Nag ingay ang paligid. Nag sisiiyakan dahil nakamit ang inaasam na hustisya habang 'yung iba ay minumura ang kriminal. I saw the victim crying at ramdam kong tumulo na rin ang luha ko. No happiness can be equal when you serve justice.

"Nice one, ma'am. Ang hirap ng kaso pero naituwid mo. Dabest ka talaga" the investigator said

"Thanks, Raine"

"May meeting nga raw pala para roon sa murder case, ma'am"

"Okay. I'll go somewhere first"

"Saan po? Sasamahan po kita"

"No need. I just need to talk to that girl suspect of attempt murder case before I can finally close it"

"Sigurado ka po ayaw mo na magpasama? Nasa labas pa ata ang ibang media nag aabang sa iyo"

"Thank you for the concern but I can handle myself"

"Okay po. Mamaya pa naman ang meeting kaya makakahabol ka pa. Ihahatid nalang po kita sa labas"

Dahil mapilit ito ay pumayag nalang ako.

He's right. The media swarming as soon they sight me going out.

"Prosecutor ano po ang masasabi niyo sa pagkapanalo niyo?"

"Ano pong nararamdaman niyo nang biglang sumang ayon sa inyo ang trial na ito at naglapag ka ng bagong ebidensiya?"

"Totoo bang nanalo ka lang dahil kamag-anak mo ang Judge sa kasong 'to?"

Napatigil naman ako sa paglalakad at pakikipagsiksikan nang marinig 'yun. Here we are again. Hindi pa din talaga sapat ang binibigay ko para ma validate ang sariling sikap at paghihirap ko imbes na ikonekta nalang lagi ang nagawa ko sa apilyedo ng pamilya ko.

"I witnessed how Prosecutor Sage worked hard for this case so refrain asking nonsense questions and can you please make a way" hinila ako nito hanggang makarating sa kotse.

"Thanks" I said

"No prob. Ingat ka, prosec" tumango ako at nginitian ito sa'ka pumasok na sa sasakyan.

They should be done by now. I checked the time from my wristwatch then umangat ang tingin ng marinig ang ingay ng estudyante papalabas ng building.

There I saw the suspect-- or rather the another victim surrounded by her block mates due to the person behind her, our Chief's niece na nakaakbay sa taong sadya ko rito habang bitbit niya ang bag nito. Busy ito makipag usap sa iba habang tahimik lang si Lily na nakikinig sa kanila at hinahayaang akbayan siya nito. They seem really close at may napapansin pa ako but I don't want to assume things just because she walks in a masculine way and being too protective of her.

Lily saw me kaya naglakad ito sa direksyon ko. Napatingin na din si Xyriena nang lumalayo na sila sa kaklase.

"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to stop harassing her or you need to get through me first" mataray na sabi nitong si Xyriena. A brat indeed.
