Long AN

Enby is a term meaning a non-binary person and this story is written by a nonbinary person. This story shows both gender euphoria and gender dysphoria.

I'm using episode 42: A Fine Mess, as a jumping board for this story. I took it and made it represent a possible aspect of the transgender experience. It contains both gender euphoria with non-binary Odd in a girl's body and gender dysphoria with Yumi in Odd's body.

!CW/TW! (These parts can be skipped) this story contains Yumi's feelings about using the bathroom that has a nonsexual, talk of and naming of genitals(once), but nothing is explicit, nor sexual in any way shape, or form. It is blocked off between a set of '*1's. There is also !nonsexual! analysis of the overall shape of Yumi's underwear-clad body that is blocked off by a set of '*2's, Both of those sections demonstrate gender dysphoria and gender euphoria respectively, so if you can, read it.

Non-binary does not mean masc presenting. There are many non-binary people, both AFAB(assigned female at birth) AND AMAB(assigned male at birth) who like presenting femininely.

Odd came out of the scanner feeling off. They looked down at their body and noticed that it was Yumi's, as they were processing this, the other scanner opened, and Odd saw their body and asked, "What am I doing there!"

"So, you're Odd?" Ulrich gestured to the girl's body.

"The one and only!" they forced a grin and tried to maintain their usual sense of humor, which seemed wrong coming from Yumi.

"And your Yumi?" he turned to face the other.

"Apparently, let's get Jeremie to fix this," she responded heading towards the elevator, the other two following as Aelita got out of the scanner, its opening hiss got everyone's attention.

"So, you're still Aelita, right?" Yumi asked, worried.

"Of course, I am, who else would I be?" she smiled though a little confused.

"There's been a bit of a mix-up, we'll tell you and Jeremie when we get to the last member of our little love group, princess," Odd smiled at her. Not quite sure what was going on she followed her partners into the elevator. The doors hissed open as they reached the supercomputer.

"So, um, Jeremie, we've got a bit of a problem..." Ulrich explained the situation.

"Not good," was all Jeremie had to say, as he mentally took stock of the situation.

"Are you two ok?" Aelita asked, grabbing a hand of both of the affected people.

"As long as I get back in my body soon, this just feels wrong," Yumi responded.

"Yeah, can you put us back through the scanners and fix this?" Odd asked.

"I would not recommend it, what if the scan messes up again and you don't have any bodies this time!" Jeremie told them the probable worst-case scenario.

"Okay, bad idea," they took back the suggestion.

"If this is a bug, you can fix it right?" Yumi asked.

"Well, yes if I can isolate it."

"How long will that take, a couple of hours?" Yumi sounded desperate.

"If I work through the night, I should be able to fix it at some point tomorrow," he looked away, not wanting to be the bearer of bad news to his partners.
