Tonight

Tonight she will lay alongside me

She will be filled with pain and regret and sorrow and everything miserable about this world

Because she knows that as she lays alongside me

She will only live a lie

She will never love me

Because she is selfish

That is just his version of the story

Please hear mine before you go

Tonight I will lay alongside him

I will wait for the moment that his eyes close and he drifts off to sleep

Before climbing out from beneath the sheets, quiet as to not wake him

And leave in the night

For his words stung me

They bit me

They bruised me

They beat me

On other days they kissed me

They nipped at me

Nibbled a bit

They pinched me

More days than not, they brought me great pain

But it was all worth it for when they brought me great pleasure

So my selfishness does not force me out of our sheets

It is him

It is you
