sculpture of hephaestus

hephaestus.. ares cringes at the name. he was the older brother of hephaestus. both brothers long fought over aphrodite. in some greek tales, it is said that upon's ares birth, aphrodite was given to him as a gift. his mother hera was furious that zeus could not figure out what type of god their new son could be, hating seeing his wife mad, he did his best to please her. thus making him a god of war, and a lover given at birth. aphrodite was meant to be his. he knew the only reason his mother and father allowed hephaestus to forcefully marry aphrodite is because he was so disgusting, he scared other people away. hera was distraught that she birthed such a crippled child. snapping back into reality, ares continues to rub soft circles in his lovers back, his chin rests upon the smaller's head. 'do not cry darling, no marriage will ever keep me from you. we are meant to be.' ares lifts the love god's tan freckled chin, placing a soft kiss to his rosey warm lips. the lovers knew they had to keep this relationship secret. if they are ever found, they may never be able to see eachother again.
