Michael and I entered the elevator and took a look around. There were posters on the walls with the different animatronic characters with phrases, like "celebrate!" and "dance!" The elevator was surprisingly roomy and had lots of vents and buttons. We stood there awkwardly for a minute until a voice suddenly came over the intercom, explaining details about the job and what our first task was. Suddenly a computer machine popped up from the floor asking for our names. I entered mine and moved out of the way so Michael could enter his. "Huh", he said. "It won't register my name." The computer spoke. "It seems that you had some trouble with the keypad. I see what you were trying to type, and I will auto-correct it for you. One moment. Welcome: Eggs Benedict." I couldn't help but giggle. "Of all things why call me that?", Michael wondered aloud. "I'm not sure," I said, "But I think it's kinda cute." Then I realized what I had said out loud just now, and embarrassment flushed over my face. "Uh-sorry, that's not what I meant. I mean I don't think it's a bad name at all really, you know." Michael nervously chuckled. "Uh, yeah" he said. "Suppose it'll be alright just for work." Soon the elevator door opened and we walked out to the control room. The intercom voice explained how each animatronic had their own section, and to reach the Funtime Freddy animatronic, we had to go through Funtime Foxy's area to reach the door. We were told Funtime Foxy was light activated, so we would have to sneak through the dark in order to not disturb the animatronic. Michael took the lead and crawled through the door first. I was a bit apprehensive, but he reassured me that we would be ok. He offered me a hand and helped me through the small door on the floor. The other side was completely dark. We had to use a flash beacon every once in awhile to find our footing so we could see where we were going and where the door was. Suddenly the sound of machine footsteps made my heart stop. Without thinking I grabbed Michael's hand and squeezed it tightly. He nervously laughed. "It's ok," he said. "They move around a lot by themselves you know. We'll be ok as long as it doesn't see us." "Oh," I said softly. "I see." Rather than being awkward about holding my hand, Michael kept ahold of it as he lead our way through the dark and to the next room. I couldn't help but blush a bit at how he held my hand so firmly. His hand was soft and warm, and it gave me butterflies thinking about how he had went out of his way to protect me and make sure I didn't get lost. No, I thought to myself. I shouldn't be thinking like that. I literally just met this boy, and besides he's just a co worker. I needed to focus on my job. That was why I was here after all. As we reached the door, I cleared my head and prepared myself to start maintenance.
