Newbie (Bucky x Reader)

First fight

"What if we hit the farmers market again tomorrow?" you asked Bucky after you were confident you had everything memorized.
"Hmm?" he looked at you confused for a moment. It was almost supper time, and you both had only taken a break for lunch all day. He was still studying his computer, but seemed at ease with maneuvering different pages, and going to the internet to look different things up. You knew he was confident with doing it on his phone, so this was a step up for sure for him. He was so careful to make sure things were done well the first time you supposed. Which followed through with his personal life as well as you knew very well. You still remembered the first kiss like it was yesterday, and he only kept making them better every time.
"Farmers market with Stevie" you gave a soft smile. "Tomorrow after breakfast" you added.
"Sure, that would be fun" he gave a flirty grin. "I'll lend you one of my hats" he winked.
"Do you have everything memorized yet?" you quirked an eyebrow.
"Not quite" he frowned. "I've been looking up different cars that he mentions for code words. I want to make sure I get this right. How about you?"
"I'm confident, I'm going to be looking at gardening and flowers after supper" you admitted. "I want to make a good first impression if I get invited to a garden party" you smirked. "I know a few of them, but not enough for what my character likes"
"At least you'll have your phone, and google" he chuckled. "That's what I might have to rely on too" he admitted.
You went back to your phone and downloaded a few apps to help you get to know common gardening tips, and flowers that could be planted easily in the area that you would be doing the mission in. You thankfully had mostly roses at the mission house, Tony had made sure you saw pictures of the outside. You looked up the history on each of them, and the names of them so you wouldn't seem too foolish. You felt Bucky absentmindedly rubbing your feet for you and you gave him a soft smile before concentrating back on your phone again.
"Come on, supper time" Nat came in looking at you both pointedly. "You're over doing it"
"I wanted to go out tomorrow for some fun before we go on the mission, so I'm cramming in everything I can" you admitted.
"Just remember you are a housewife first, before anything else" she rolled her eyes. "You like roses, that's why James bought that specific house, because there was a rose garden for you to focus on. Now come on" she pulled on your hand, and you got off the couch and followed her to the dining room. Bucky took a moment before getting up to follow.

Supper was a quiet affair. Sam even seemed to be keeping to himself. A lot of the team kept looking to you and Bucky as if feeling your anxiety for the mission.
"Its going to be weird without you two here for a bit" Sam finally broke the silence as you were eating cookies for dessert.
"I'm just worried about messing up our covers" you admitted softly.
"We won't. We have this down pat. Stop worrying so much" Bucky smiled at you.
"I can still go for my morning jog, right?" you went back to your email to check.
"You'll have to go for just walks for now, unless you find other housewives or moms that like to go for jogs" Tony frowned a bit.
"I'm going to miss those" you sighed.
"The key thing is, you need to get to know the neighborhood. Blend in" he reminded you.
"I'm so used to doing everything on my own..." you drifted off.
"You got used to hanging out with us in the morning" Sam reminded you. "Just try to be more flexible, like when you started with us, that's all"
"Stevie, did you want to go to the farmers market in the morning?" Bucky looked at him. "Y/N brought it up, I think it's a good idea to go" he gave a small smile.
"Sure, we had fun last time" Steve nodded with a smile. "It was a lot of food though" he chuckled.
"I love sweet things" you sighed happily.
"Don't ruin your lunch" Happy warned you.
"I'm absolutely going to ruin my lunch" you grinned. "They have crepes, and waffles and doughnuts and candy..." you gave a wistful smile.
"I'll be insulted if you ruin your lunch" Happy crossed his arms, and you pouted a little bit.
"I'll still eat it" you promised. "You wont know the difference" you gave a gentle smile and Happy took a moment before chuckling a little bit.
"You're excused from lunch" Tony decided. "But don't ruin your supper. We expect you here for that"
"Deal" you danced a bit in your chair.
"How about a movie tonight?" Nat looked at you with a grin.
"I still have to study my gardening apps" you frowned slightly.
"Come on, its been a while" Wanda added in.
"We wont have you around for so long, we want to spend some time with you too" Pepper added.
"What are we watching?" you finally smiled, giving in.
"How about Harry Potter?" Wanda smiled at you gently and you nodded excitedly.
"I'd love that, and its not a horror" you giggled.

When you got back to the living room, you sat between Steve and Bucky, but snuggled into Bucky. Wanda turned on the movie and Bucky put his arm around you pulling you in. You noticed he still had his laptop open, and was still looking at it with his hyper focus again. You sighed heavily and looked at him, but he didn't seem to notice.
"Bucky" you spoke softly and he looked at you with a small smile, but went back to his computer. "James" you used his first name and he looked at you again, a little more worriedly.
"Put it away for a bit" you sighed.
"Doll, I'm just finishing this up" he shook his head.
"Fine" you pulled away from him and sat up more on your own. He looked confused for a moment, but went back to his laptop. Once the movie started you leaned forward a bit getting into the movie, and tried not to pay attention to the fact that Bucky was more focused on his computer again.
"When he worries, he gets focused" Steve whispered to you, and you sighed heavily and leaned back and leaned into Steve. He gave you a small smile and put his arm around you while Bucky didn't even take notice. You put your feet up under you and sighed softly.
As the movie got to the end, Bucky was still at his computer and you really couldn't hold your temper much more. He was supposed to be enjoying being with the team. He had been hyper focused for a few days. You knew he was trying to get ready for the mission, but felt it was overdoing it. He was looking at the specifics of every car that he possibly could. You knew he was going overboard.
"We better get to bed" Steve whispered. "We have an early morning. Come on Buck, its time for bed"
"I'll be right there" Bucky didn't look up from his computer. The room emptied out, but you waited a moment.
"James" you said in a firm voice.
"What's up doll?" Bucky didn't even look up from his computer.
"Its time for bed" you were almost gritting your teeth.
"Yeah, I'll be right there" he waved.
"James Buchannan Barnes, you promised you were done with ignoring your dame" you glared. "Are you coming to bed or not?"
"Doll, I'm trying to get ready for the mission" he raised his voice a bit. "I don't want to leave anything to chance" he finally looked at you.
"You can't work on that tomorrow after we get back? You can't look at that information while we are on the mission?" you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms.
"Just go to bed, I'll be there shortly" he sighed, growling a bit.
"Are we going to start fighting about this?" you demanded.
"I want to make sure that we do well on the mission, stop trying to pick a fight" he glared slightly.
"I'm trying to pick a fight?" you demanded. "You've ignored the team the whole night, and its bedtime and you are still on your computer. I thought we were going to bed together" you glared at him.
"I'll be there in a bit, I need to go over this" he raised his voice again. You felt tears start to well up in your eyes and you stomped your foot.
"You said you were done ignoring me" a few tears went down your face.
"I'm not ignoring you, I'm just focusing on our mission" he didn't even look at you.
"Fine, focus on the mission. I will too. We can do it separately" you stormed out of the room.
"Doll, what are you talking about?" he jumped up from the couch to follow you, but you were already full out crying.
"Figure it out" you felt him grab you by the shoulder and you glared at him.
"Doll..." it finally hit him that you were crying, and you were insinuating that you two were over. "I'm sorry" he tried to pull you to him, but you pushed him away.
"You ignored me the night before I went public. I was so anxious. I held it together, but I was worried. You ignored the team when they were trying to spend time with us before the mission coming up. You ignored me too. You are so focused, you are forgetting about what's important too" you yelled at him. "So go focus on the mission, but when the doors are closed you sleep on the damn couch. You can sleep on the couch tonight too" you glared at him as tears continued to fall down your face.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry. I'm just worried about the mission. I didn't mean to ignore you again" he touched your face, and you pushed his hands away still feeling hurt. "I swear, I'm just worried about the mission. I want us to be able to go on more together, so I need to make sure I do it right the first time"
"You're missing out on what's important by focusing so much" you glared.
"You're right" he sighed, and tried pulling you close again. "Please, I'm sorry. I'll put it away until tomorrow, not when you or the team are around. Forgive me?" he whispered.
"You've done this to me twice" you tried to glare as he pulled you into an embrace.
"It wont happen again. I'll pay more attention, you're the only dame for me. Don't make it sound like we aren't in this together" he whispered.
"Stop making me feel alone" you angrily wiped at your tears.
"Let's go to bed together, I'll leave it alone for tonight" he promised. "You're more important" he swore. He stood back and gazed into your eyes almost seeking permission before he leaned down and kissed you softly on the lips. "I love you" he whispered. "I'll keep loving you as long as you let me"
