Chapter 4.
Percy
His head was spinning. That Ryder guy had his hands all over her. Why were his hands all over her? Percy couldn't remember if his hands were on her that much when he and Annabeth dated...
It really made no sense as to how she could have a boyfriend already. Didn't those dating apps ask you questions about the people you want to see? Was there no option that said 'my boyfriend is still in love with me, so no real bites, please'? Was that not an option for her to click? And if so, why hadn't she done it?
And that guy should know. He should know that she's not over Percy, how dare he be happy with a strong, independent, (newly single) woman!? Does not compute.
Percy just wanted a redo. Why did he ever leave the apartment that night? Why did he listen to stupid Jason and his 'let's get drunk' advice? Why did he drunkenly choose to cheat on the love of his life? Why, why? why? The 'why's' could go on for forever.
It wasn't even like he could just pig out on the couch, or kick back with something to take the edge off because he was at Jason and Piper's. If Piper caught him smoking pot on her couch, she would tell Annabeth, and Annabeth would never take him back. Why would she want to date some deadbeat stoner? (The sexiest type)
He couldn't help his wandering thoughts as Annabeth spun around his brain. He could still feel her, feel her body next to him in everything he did and everywhere he went. Her ghost followed him like a song he just couldn't get out of his head. Her laugh practically haunted him now; at night when everyone's supposed to be asleep he could hear it. (Yeah, it was creepy). When he woke up, he still reached for her. There was an Annabeth shaped hole in his life and he hadn't had to repair it since the first time he met her, dead, lying on the side of Half-blood Hill.
Ever since she found him, she'd been the only one to truly break through, and he knew he'd never have that with anyone else.
His eyes flicked over to one of the kitchen cabinets. He knew this wasn't his place, and the ring he bought for her was no good now, but he could almost imagine that it was there, and that he was in his and Annabeth's apartment, and that she was going to walk back into the living room so they could watch a show while he wrapped himself around her.
~insert a line~
He remembered when they decided to live together; Annabeth was sprawled out on his and his freshman year roommate Trevor's couch, watching a move. Annabeth had her head in Percy's lap, and her head against his abdomen. Annabeth had her head in Percy's lap, leaning against his abdomen. Percy's hands were fidgeting in her hair, when Trevor rolled off the bean bag onto his feet, half asleep.
"I'm clocking out, man, I'll see you guys tomorrow or whatever?"
"Sure thing, dude." Percy fist bumped him, and waited till he was in his room of the suite before pulling Annabeth up. Her arms seamlessly fell around his neck, her forehead resting against his.
"Hi."
"Hi." He bit his lip to stop himself from smiling so widely.
"I should go."
"No." His arms fell to her waist as he pulled her tightly against himself.
