A new girl,
fresh meat,
the boys in the locker room drooled. The good boys prayed,
the ordinary sighed,
the bad boys snickered,
and the wicked ones laid in wait. The old girl dripped with curiosity,
and a little envy, though she tried not to be jealous. She saw him check her out.
'Saw him blink to life;
something shiny and new,
'something to wake up for.Looking down,
she took in her reliable shoes,
frayed jeans,
and favorite shirt. She still had it.
She looked up at the new girl again,
from her corner of the shadows.Be the Mary Sue of the story,
the villain,
the jilted slut,
the pouty cow...Or,
herself.Smiling,
she walked forward into the light,
with genuine salutations.
