sparring matches haven't exactly started in the academy as most of the students were civilian born who had no physical training or martial arts training prior to this. the academy had the bring them up from scratch. but i didn't have time to wait for them. which is why i took the initiative to create theses sparring tournaments for us. this allows me gain some actual practical experience, which i could not gain from beating up a wooden practice dummy. also it allows me to experiment my new moves.

the rules of the match were simple. a battle royale between all of us. the match ends when there is only person left standing. all forms of weapons and jutsu are allowed. and only non-lethal attacks are allowed. yes. these sparring matches are completely advantageous to my clan friends. but then again i am not fighting to win. i am only fighting to gain more experience.

my thoughts were interrupted by the soft thud of a stone. immediately my demeanour changed . chakra surged into my legs giving me slight burst of power. and like a coiled spring i burst forwards to hiroto. my current fighting style was highly based on hit and run tactics and enemy with a byakugan kinda makes that an impossible task. the same can be said for idotu who is also a tracker, but i had many means to hide from his bugs. but the byakugan was such a broken cheat ability that its almost impossible to hide from it. damn you otsusukis and overpowered eye abilities.

hiroto saw me coming and immediately moved to the ground where he would have an advantage with his gentle fist. i threw a kunai at him midair which he redirected with his gentle fist strike. unfazed at my failed attack i twisted midair to land in the ground. we landed 20 feet apart from each other, each eyeing the other intently focused. immediately his body went into the gentle fist stance with practiced ease. i retaliated by moving into the academy stance.

a few meters away somewhere i could hear hana and idotu fighting as well. but i did not have time to focus on that. i immediately blurred from my position and reappeared in front of him. my fist immediately snapped into a punch.

The veins in his eyes bulged, (food for thought:- why do the hyuuga always scowl when using byakugan?????) and with a swift jab he blocked my strike. Or at least the poor guy tried to. My entire life I had focused on one thing and one thing only. Speed and strength. And even a hyuuga had to bow down to that conviction. His strike slightly redirected my punch, so that only his left cheek was slightly grazed.

Now many of you may have the question, no matter how much I train how on earth does an orphan, especially a clanless one like me be on par with monsters like hyuuga or inazuka. The answer is simple. I wasn't. I didn't win fights with them because I was stronger, no, I won fights with them because I was smarter.

I took a step back and changed my stance to resemble the hyuuga stance. Since I fight a hyuuga kid on a daily basis I had raided the academy library for books on Chakra points. Since I wasn't a hyuuga, I couldn't close Chakra points of my opponents due to my lack of byakugan. But I COULD roughly predict their positions from a single glance itself.

My hands immediately blurred and attacked his Chakra points. Hiroto's eyes widened and almost by muscle memory he began to block my strikes which were going towards his Chakra points. But what he didn't know was I also mixed a few vital shots too along with them.

Since he was blocking by pure muscle memory, could not avoid those strikes. His eyes widened as I bashed my chakra enhanced hands into his solar plexus. He coughed up spit and was sent flying back a solid three meters.

Immediately I used a handless substitution jutsu with the kunai I had thrown in the beginning of the fight. An elastic Chakra thread was formed between me and the kunai and it snapped as soon as the jutsu was finished, thus throwing my figure towards the kunai and the kunai towards me. I reached right next to him in a millisecond and holding another kunai by his throat.

His eyes widened as he slowly turned his head to see a glint of steel right next to his jugular. Immediately Chakra burst out from a Chakra point near his jugular. It's Chakra nature immediately turned into wind blasting my kunai off. I immediately jumped back and took a stance. Even though my ambush was a failure I couldn't help but smile.

Two months ago if anyone had suggested him to use Chakra natures he would have laughed at their face yelling bullshit about hyuuga pride. Ninjutsu was after all taboo in his clan.

But continuous fights with me for over months had taught him a very valuable lesson. In the shinobi business pride meant exactly dog shit. He wasn't like the clan elders who had access to techniques like 64 palms or rotation. He was just a branch member with regular gentle fist. So if he ever wanted to reach heights as a shinobi he had to take every opportunity present to him. He smirked at me and went back snapped back into his stance.

I shook my head and slightly turned my eye towards the other fight in the clearing. Hana and idotu's fight was pure ninjutsu battle. Against Shino, taijutsu was useless. His bug control was almost perfect, leading to the formation of, a ripoff version of gaara's absolute defense.

So Hana had no choice but to use getsuga, continuously! Even then Hana seemed to be on the losing end since she could never pinpoint the exact location of idotu. He was somewhere in the middle of the swarm of bugs. Even the inazuka nose couldn't pinpoint the exact location of his body. And getsuga was eating away her Chakra.

Hana really seemed outta juice. Her face was contorted in a snarl so powerful that, if looks could kill, idotu would be dead for over ten times by now.

As I watched her fight I couldn't help but smile in pride. Hana was a girl of simple thought processing.  Fighting tactics and complex ninjutsu weren't really her thing. In fact if it was a month ago she would be yelling at idotu that he was fighting *unfair*.

But over the course of the month she has slowly grown up to accept the fact there was no such thing as fairness in shinobi world. Of course she hasn't completely changed. She still runs headfirst into the battle like an idiot.

But now, she runs headfirst into the battle like an idiot, with a plan. Corresponding to this idotu has to think out of the box so that Hana never catches him in the bug storm, since his taijutsu is absolute shit.

I smiled at how much my friends had grown. It bought me much pride to see that I was the reason why these non-existant characters would grow much stronger than their non-existant cannon selfs.

Soon the battle came to a conclusion, as Hana gave up. She had ran out of chakra which was drained by idotu's bugs. Then it was only us left now. The winner would then fight idotu.

I felt the fighting spirit burning inside me. I turned my eyes at hiroto and smiled:" brace yourself hiroto. You aren't the only one with new moves. " Hiroto looked at me curiously. I simply smiled.

I immediately closed my eyes and took a stance. I focused on my Chakra. I felt my entire body in detail. I could feel the blood flowing in my veins and the sweat dropping from my body.
