The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though i still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out

Meredith lifts her head from the bed and looks through the bars that enclose her in the cell. Tears streaming down her face as she thinks back on the events of the evening. Alex getting shot, Derek turning out to be a cop, Mark running off and not knowing where he is. Callie betraying them and being an FBI agent. Placing her head back on the bed she wonders where Mark is. "Did he make it to the safe house? Did Alex come out of surgery? Was he ok? How did she not read through Callie's cover?" As she sits in quiet contemplation of her thoughts sleep finally overcomes her tired sore body.

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

Derek tosses and turns in his bed trying to get comfortable while trying to wrap his head around the information of the day. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Meredith, the woman who in a matter of days has managed to take over his soul and now he lost her in a matter of moments.

The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I'm an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for a purpose, they're still looking for life

Alex awoke groggily wondering where he was. As he stops and takes in his surroundings the events of the night come back to him. He thinks about the family he just lost all in a matter of seconds. Severe pain over takes his body as he allows the black to overtake his body.

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain (in the pain), is there healing
In your name (in your name) I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin')
I'm barely holdin' on to you

Callie sits in the exam room laying back on the table as she takes in her losses. Loosing Mark loosing the diamonds and loosing her job for her inappropriate actions. Her emotions over come her as tears flow down her face faster and faster as she realizes she has lost the thing that meant the most to her in the world.

I'm hangin' on another day
Just to see what you throw my way
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be OK

The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home

Making his way into the apartment overlooking water Mark sits in a chair out on the balcony. Watching the boats glide gently through the water leaving rough waves in their wake. A tear made its way down his cheek as he realized he was that boat leaving rough water and wreckage behind him as he took off tonight. Getting up off the chair he walked to the door opening it walking off to face the rough wreckage with his family.

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain(In the pain) there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'),
I'm barely holdin' on to you

"I don't share cheesecake with anyone, ask my brother." Meredith's voice floats through this head. "Family stuff." Derek sits up quickly in bed throwing the covers off himself. He pulls his clothes on and walked out the door to his car taking off hoping to change the fate of the small group the woman who held his heart called family.

I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'),
I'm barely holdin' on to you
