in Shuichi's House
Saturday - evening
we spent a good amount of time discussing what we could make by combining both of our Talents and in the end we decided to make a lie detector, however we didn't want a big machine so we were thinking of a more practical one.
"I KNOW, we make a bra that flashes when the person in front of you lies" Miu suggested happily.
"that only works for girls and.......thats pretty disturbing" i replied.
"ok then Mr Dicktective, tell me what would work for both and won't be disturbing?" she said in an angered tone.
"contact lenses and a bracelet are a start" i said blankly, she seemed amazed but quickly changed her expression.
"well, you might be right, i didn't know you had a big Di-" i quickly interrupted.
"brain you mean? thank you for the compliment" i gave her a fake smile.
we ended up deciding on contact lenses since we didn't have the materials for bracelets but mainly because Miu saw the idea as more appealing than a bracelet.
as we were working, i noticed that the pile of materials had a bunch of outfits, at that point,Tsumugi's request flashed through my mind "hey Miu, are those cosplay outfits?" i Asked the inventor as she was drawing a basic plan for the lenses.
"oh those? yeah i found them near my lab, while i Don't care about clothes much, the quality was top tier so i figured they might come in handy" she answered without looking at me, what were they doing there i wonder.
"well since we are making lenses, we won't need those and they belong to Tsumugi so we can't use them" i didn't expect to find them like this but hey, im not complaining, i still have 2 more tasks to complete after all.
"yeah yeah whatever" she replied nonchalantly, and then her voice spoke almost like a whisper that you might have missed it "hey Shuichi.....do you think that Love has rules?" she asked as she lifted her head up but not too high.
"well........i believe it only has one rule" i replied as i stood up and made my way to my room's window before continuing "the person that you are planning to love has to return that love, otherwise, hearts will shatter. Love is an incredibly powerful word. When you’re in love, you always want to be together, and when you’re not, you’re thinking about being together because you need that person and without them your life feels incomplete.
love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions, completely loving someone. It’s when you trust the other with your life and when you would do anything for each other. When you love someone, you want nothing more than for them to be truly happy no matter what it takes, because that’s how much you care about them and because their needs come before your own. You hide nothing of yourself and can tell the other anything because you know they accept you just the way you are and vice versa, of course love isn't always romantic, love comes in many ways and i love you as a friend, even with your flaws, i like having you around. and hopefully one day you'll find the person who'll open your heart and have your life complete" i finished talking and followed it up with a sigh, i didn't think im capable of saying all of that but i believe this should do it.
i turned around and saw Miu's eyes threatening to tear up, but it was of joy and most of all....Hope. i tilted my hat down a bit as i witnessed her being in that state, i didn't tilt my hat for awhile now, i guess im far from being my old self, but im not taking the hat off, not yet, 'no one shall look at me in the eyes' i said to myself as i turned back to the window's view.
"Shuichi, how did you know that i wasn't crushing on you?" Miu asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"well, usually you wouldn't mind if someone proposed an idea that involves you and your crush together, but you rejected it way too aggressively, same thing when i mentioned the "stealing the heart" part, i can say the same when i asked you if would you want it to happen" i replied blankly.
"though i wouldn't say you weren't crushing on me, it was more the fact that you had a crush on me but couldn't go through with it because of your first crush" i added.
"im......Sorry, for using you, i know i messed up on this one but please forgive me" she said apologetically, she looked like she was feeling pretty guilty about it.
"don't assume something about me, Miu" i replied.
"huh? what do you mean by that?"
"i know you well by now, we have been friends for a very short time now, you aren't used to having a friend you can rely on so you were afraid of asking me, and i understand where you were coming from, so its all fine, i forgive you" i turned to Miu, flashing her a small smile.
"well, i guess you aren't the fucking ultimate detective for nothing" she said cheerfully, it was nice seeing Miu finally being someone who is fun to be around "say Shuichi, why do you hide your face? i mean half of the girls look at you with such Awe in their faces and some of the boys feel jealous of your look, and thats without your whole face exposed, can't you take the hat off so we can finally see your eyes?" she said it in a way that surely meant she wanted to see my eyes, but Kyoko said the same thing, perhaps it is true but i doubt I'll stay in a relationship after seeing how much of me is hidden.
"maybe one day but i don't want that day to be today" i replied as i looked down.
We finished the blueprints, and I asked Miu if I could create the lens. She was surprised, but she agreed on one condition: she would make one too in case mine ends up being a failure. After that we waved each other goodbye at the door, but before she left, she jumped at me and wrapped her arms around me.
"Thank you Shuichi, for today and......for showing me that good friends are not a myth" i felt her tears on my shoulder, i was a bit surprised but i then returned her embrace.
"its the least i can do for a dear friend of mine, at least no more Tsundere acts from you" i replied.
"oh fuck off hahaha" she laughed.
we separated and then watched her figure getting smaller as she walked away, during her walk back home she stopped for a bit and looked back and waved, i waved back, happy that she had found the beauty that was inside of her at last.
as i went back in, my uncle and Ryouko were preparing Dinner, i asked Miu to stay but she said that her parents won't let her, which was a very weird excuse but I'll ask her about that later.
after a great dinner with a girlfriend teasing session on the side, i headed to my room only to find monokuma Messing with the blueprints.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" i said loudly but not too loudly.
he then opened his chest to reveal......contact lenses? "did you make them already?" i asked the android bear.
"puhuhuhuhu, not just that, i upgraded your original model, it won't just detect lies but also any irregularities in a person's expression, this is a prototype though so we can't use it well, we better get to working on the true version" he said with an evil laugh, its been a month at this point and Monokuma has been nothing but caring for me and always giving me a hand in solving the issues i have been facing, perhaps its Time to ease up.
"Thank you Monokuma, i appreciate it" i said smiling.
his eyes widened a bit before replying.
