Chapter 34

Saturday-Night

today was a bit stressful as I began to assist Kaede in walking around again. She couldn't hold out for long but there were signs that she is on her way to a healthy recovery in a short period of time so that was great.

but it's weird for Kyoko to invite me like this out of the blue and to Hajime's place no less.

I stood in front of the door, the house had a much more....intimidating vibe now that I had a chance to look at it without being rushed to get inside like last time, it didn't look anything fancy on the outside which would totally fool anyone completely.

nevertheless, it wasn't the time to look at the details here, there are details i needed to know about first.

As I knocked on the door, I grew nervous with each knock about what Kyoko and Hajime would want from me.

"Hey Shuichi, glad you came, come in" Hajime said as he gestured for me to enter. His expressions were calm, but he is the ultimate hope. He might be skilled enough to hide his true intentions from me, if only I brought my detective vision.

I went to the living room and saw Kyoko sitting there. The tension in the air was so heavy that I almost felt like I was getting choked by someone.

'Shuichi, I can't get a read on any of the two so you need to be careful of what you say as well as what you can tell them at this point in time, because they seem like they want something out of you.'Talon spoke in worry.

he was right, Kyoko was only worried if she came to you, but when she calls upon you then she wants something from you.

I sat opposite of her and waited for Hajime. Judging from the small clinking and the sound of liquid getting Poured, it seemed he was preparing a drink for us.

With these seconds of silence I tried to focus on unleashing my detective side of talents just like how I did with that new recruit from last time.

As soon as I managed to do that, my senses were sharpened to the max, but my feelings were also numb. It was a welcomed thing, I needed to be careful as to not show any signs of lying if I had to do that.

Once Hajime arrived with cups full of drinks, the interrogation began.

"Shuichi, how is Kaede holding up" Hajime began.

"she is fine, i have been helping her to walk again and all is well" i said blankly.

"Shuichi, do you know anything about Sarkis?" Kyoko asked quickly.

"what's that?" I was honestly unaware of who or what Sarkis is, the only time I heard that name was from Kyro but it seems I'm still safe.....or so I thought before she asked again.

"Keebo's body has it's hard drive missing, do you have any idea about this?" she asked with signs of frustration, you might not be able to show yourself Kyoko but i can read you well and i know that she thinks i'm hiding something.

I was close to flinching but remained composed. I didn't have time to look inside the drive so I need to do that very soon before I lose the opportunity.

"i have no idea about it's place, i was more worried about Kaede's injuries getting worse so i-"

"who the fuck cares about her, we need to find where Sarkis is before things get worse" Kyoko snapped as she stood up, it was a first to me seeing her like this, however this strong reaction means she is also hiding something.

"Kyoko,that's a first coming from you, are you hiding something from me?" she immediately flinched and her hands began to shake, but I was on the offensive so I didn't have time to let something important get away from me.

"Are you perhaps worried about someone?" she immediately backed down and sat on the sofa again, she may have looked defeated but she will try again.

"if that's all,then I'll be going now, feel free to search for Sarkis without me, because it seems that you don't trust me anymore"

"Shuichi,im.......sorry, i didn't mean to say what i did, but please help us solve this and get rid of the mark of despair, so we can all live a more peaceful life" so she still insists that i'm hiding something.

"well, i'm going to help obviously, but not until i'm sure that everyone is going to trust the other person next to them that they won't betray them" i said coldly.

"By the way, I will be visiting you as promised after Kaede has fully recovered, see you later Kyoko" I said as I left the house.

As soon as I left, I heard footsteps chasing after me, it was Hajime.

"Hey Shuichi look, I'm not going to defend Kyoko because that was uncalled for, but try not to take it personally" he seemed upset at what happened considering me and her are close friends.

"I didn't take it as such, I know she is worried about Makoto now that they are a thing, but we can't forget about everyone, the warehouse should set them back a bit for now but we need to be prepared and the first thing is mental preparation," I replied.

"Alright, you seem like you have a plan, then I'll be waiting for you to tell me what's next," Hajime said happily.

I had to quickly find out what Keebo had in his memories. With that objective in mind, I went to the house,grabbed the drive and the agency keys and headed there to see what I could uncover.

Sarkis might be silent now but I don't know for how long so I better make the most of it while I can.
