Chapter 56.5

Monday - evening (6 days ago)

It's been 4 hours since I have sent Monokuma to deal with the assassins and nothing came from him. Hopefully he is fine.

'Shuichi, I'm sensing his Signal, he seems ok but he is heading towards the Akamatsu Mansion' Talon alerted me.

'Then let's meet up with him, we can't leave our bear alone' I said as I got up and headed to the door.

"Where are you going Shuichi?" Tenko asked.

"heading out to get a couple of pieces of equipment, and I might visit Mrs.Akamatsu for her cooking courses.

"ah yeah, getting the guardian's approval first nehehe" Kokichi laughed before continuing "you better be quick though unless you want Kaito to get her first" he said in a warning tone.

"heh, don't worry, it was me who set them up anyway" i replied as i left them and went quickly to Monokuma.

As I got there, I found him climbing to the second floor trying to get into Kaede's room. This isn't good.

I knocked hoping that this would prevent Kaede from seeing him.

to my surprise she wasn't home yet, just her parents and the butler.

"Ah Mr.Saihara,welcome" the butler said as he opened the door for me.

Just as I entered, I spotted Mrs.Akamatsu in the kitchen, evident by the smell of dough and chocolate coming from there.

"It seems you are getting the hang of it Mrs.Akamatsu, it seems like there is no need for me to teach you anything at this point" I said as I entered, announcing my presence.

"Ah Shuichi dear, welcome, and that's nonsense, there is always something to learn from you," she replied as she kept watch over the cookies.

Although I wanted to help her, stopping the mark of Despair was higher on my list unfortunately.

"Say Mrs.Akamatsu, do you mind if I go up and leave something for Kaede?" I tried coming up with any possible excuse, this one is surely to work.

"Well, obviously not, anything to see her with the person she deserves" she replied with enthusiasm and sparkles in her eyes, she really wanted me as her daughter's boyfriend huh.

With the alibi secured, I headed up to her room to find Monokuma caught in a trap, a stray laundry basket in the darkness.

"umm, how the hell did you not see this? don't you have a flashlight or night vision?'' I asked.

"How about you get me off this pile of laundry instead of acting like a smartass?" he retorted.

After rescuing him and putting him down, he explained "well, something is indeed fishy here, the moment I entered the house, I lost control of my functions, my combat capabilities,the other functions and all are no longer operable" that's a big lead.

Then I remembered the badge I had from the kidnapping days, I took it out and I was correct, it was no longer glowing or functioning at all.

'Shuichi, i thought it was me being out of date or something, but whenever we enter here, i no longer become capable of communicating with you as smoothly as i normally can' Talon added.

As I was trying to process all of this,suddenly, the door opened with Mrs.Akamatsu standing there.

"So I was right, you were the one who is after Sarkis," she said calmly.

normally that would be where it all ends but, surprisingly it didn't.

"follow me Shuichi dear" she requested as we headed to her room, there she gave me all the documents i  need to confirm Sarkis's identity, Kaede's father.

"Why are you helping me?" I asked, even though these were too good to be true, I had my suspicions.

"i saw him how he tortured my daughter, i tried many times to help her but there was only so much i could do, that is until you appeared dear, you stood your ground for her sake that day and you always looked after her, and for that im forever grateful" she answered.

she then continued "just please promise me that you will make her happy" she asked.

"you know that this is no longer something i can do for her Mrs.Akama-"

"Please call me Sola," she interrupted.

"and you know that she is merely blinded by the fantasy of being in a relationship and soon she will regret it, so it's not too late for you" she was right, but i wasn't going to get my hopes up, as the situation could still be a trap.

"I will try, I can say that much," I replied.

"wonderful, now let's get going before the others come in and wonder where we are '' she said as she went downstairs.

Meanwhile I held monokuma by the window till he reduced his size then placed him in my pocket.

'hey Talon, try getting an analysis on the jammer being used here, i think i have found a way to disable these devices'

'Already ahead of you and the blueprints for a miniature jammer chip are ready for construction' Talon replied with pride.

"oh and Monokuma, thank you for getting rid of these assassins, sorry for putting you on the spot, its just i had to make sure everyone is ok and that no assassin was set as a backup in case their cover was blown"

"Hey Shuichi, listen, we may seem like we are complaining and all, but we love your company and all, we know you are always looking out for people and always pitch in when we need you or without anyone even asking" he paused a bit.

"Even though with everyone depending on you, they will just drain you, good guys are always like this, looking out for everyone while not expecting much in return, eventually they end up as nothing but hollowed. empty husks.......but, it seems that this is the path you took without regrets, so we are here for you all the way to the end" heh, never thought Monokuma had all that in him.

'yeah, even if we have to sacrifice ourselves to keep you alive then that is worth it' Talon backed him up.

"Hey now, don't go raising your death flag by saying such ominous things," I replied with a smile.

With these two by my side, I can do everything and can get through everything. That was the thought I kept in my mind as I went downstairs with Monokuma jumping into my pocket.

Author's Note: little did they know that a death flag has actually been risen that day.

oh you thought we were going to continue the story? too bad because there was one last prequel Chapter that hasn't been published yet but now that they are all done, its time to go forward and see what happened to our beloved students.

and since y'all are have been hit hard by my Angst masterpiece today, why not increase the dosage just a little bit more right guys?
