𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 8: 𝑯𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒅

⚀3ʀᴅ ᴘᴏᴠ⚀

As they all walked out of the research department, Hange didn't stop sharing her experience with the animals. From their names to every single characteristic the animals had, left her mouth and made a room in the soldiers's memory.

"So, where are we going?" Connie asked as they all walked inside of the elevator. "To Valentina, to the IRF," Audrey answered. "What does IRF means?" Armin asked. "Intermediate Recovery Facility." Y/N answered as the elevator opened the way to their desired floor. They began to walk towards their destination, others skipped while looking at their surroundings.

Y/N stopped in front of a glass door which made them stop too. As usual, she typed the code and opened the door. They walked in and saw several soldiers recovering from missions, some were trying to stand up from their own wheelchairs, others were walking slowly with an assigned nurse by their side to help them if they collapse. They continued to stroll and stopped when Y/N was looking at a window. From her perspective—there she was, her second in command. Y/N smiled a bit and knocked the door three times.

A female answered the door and let them inside.

"Uppercut." one ordered as a woman gave him an uppercut which he blocked in return. "Right hook." he continued, the woman followed. The Scouts observed her movements, precise and sharp but relaxed. "Let's go freestyle." the male said as the woman raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Come on, you can't be that strong, you're still recovering," he stated making her boil inside. "Is that so?" she said before giving him a sudden jab which he blocked in panic and swept his feet making him drop to the floor.

Some of the Scouts chuckled from the scene. "That's what happens if you boast too much." Eren said, smiling. "Yeah, speaking from experience." Jean replied making Connie and Sasha cover their mouths from laughing.

"Y/N!" the woman called as Y/N waved and walked towards her. They then hugged each other. "How are you?" Y/N asked her second in command. "I'm fine, I'll probably attend the missions now." Valentina said as the other members of the squad made their way to her. Audrey jumped on her and hugged Valentina. "I missed you!" she wailed, snuggling in her arms. "I missed you too," Valentina replied as they broke the hug. "Hey," Connor said as he ruffled Valentina's hair. "Stop it, I missed you too." Valentina responded, elbowing him from his form of affection. "Alex!" Valentina called as Alexander waved at her. "Hey!" Alexander said.

"By the way, who are they?" Valentina asked, tilting her head while she was observing the Scouts. "The Scout Regiment." Y/N answered, arms crossed. "Nice too meet you!" Valentina greeted with a smile. "Hi!" Hange said, waving her hand.

After introducing themselves for about 10 minutes, they all went out and headed towards the cafeteria. "So Valentina, how did you and Y/N met?" Erwin asked, curious from their previous interaction. "Oh, we're childhood friends. We met at a local playground, fast forward and we're like sisters, " Valentina replied as the soldiers except the Venoms, raised their eyebrows. "Woah, that's really long," Sasha muttered, Valentina nodded in agreement.

They then entered the cafeteria, soldiers were eating while chatting. The sound of metal cutleries and chatters filled the cafeteria. The soldiers stood up from Y/N's presence and saluted at her. "Captain F/N M/N Valor! Good morning ma'am!" James exclaimed as the others followed. "At ease, continue." Y/N said, the soldiers sat down and continued eating.

"Where are we going to seat? The cafeteria is full." Mikasa asked as the Venoms smiled at her. "Don't worry, we have our own room." Audrey said, the Scouts got dumbfounded from her statement. They made their way to another door and opened it, a wide and spacious room covered in white paint with two large tables and seats. "Woah, you have your own room?!" Connie exclaimed as he sat down and looked around. "Yep." Audrey said.

Connor and Y/N went out to get their food platters. The awkward silence between them followed by a single cough made them stay in their seats without uttering a single word. They only glanced at one another and after a second, they looked at their hands.

Connor and Y/N came back, hands full with their platters. Y/N was balancing a platter in each hand and one on top of her head while Connor was carrying only two, one in each hand. "You might want to help us." the muscle pig said making Audrey and Alexander rush outside. After a while, they finally ate their food. A generous amount of vegetables, chicken slices, a small bowl of rice and a fruit salad were handed to each person in the cafeteria.

"Woah, is this chicken?" Sasha said, widening her eyes from the slices of meat. "Yes," Y/N replied as she took a bite of the vegetables. The teens of the Scouts didn't waste any time to taste the chicken slices since they didn't have any meat for a long period of time. "Slow down, you'll choke." Y/N reminded as they nodded and continued eating. "I forgot how delicious chicken is," Eren muttered as they nodded in agreement. "You don't eat meat in the military?" Connor asked. They shook their head no making the members of Squad Venom widen their eyes. "Really? What do you usually eat?" Valentina questioned. "Potatoes, bread and flavorless soup." Armin answered. "Everyday?" she asked again. A thin line formed the teenagers lips. "What? Why? You won't have enough nutrients in your body if that's what you eat everyday." Y/N replied. "They don't have any choice. We don't have much land compared to yours, the territory we have makes it harder for humanity to survive. Because of those titans, starvation and malnutrition are known for the causes of deaths other than getting eaten by those creatures." Levi explained.

"How many are your population?" Valentina asked, taking a scoop of rice. "Less than a million." Erwin answered as they slowly take out the food out of their mouths. "Wow, that's how many survived from the titans?" Connor said. "Yes, unfortunately." Erwin replied. Just then, someone entered the room.

They all stood up and greeted the General. "Good day to all of you," Arthur said as they nodded and sat back down. "May I eat here?" he asked, nods and several agrees replied to his question. Arthur started to eat while listening to their conversation.

"So, you're telling me that you don't have light bulbs or electricity in your hometown?" Alexander asked. "Yep!" Hange answered making them jaw-drop. "Wait wait wait." Audrey said. "what year do you think it is?" Audrey continued. "850." Levi answered as they all stopped and stared at them in disbelief, mouth open and jaw-dropped. Even Arthur dropped his spoon from Levi's answer. "850?" Y/N asked, confirming them. "Yes, 850." Mikasa answered as they looked at her. "What year is it today?" Erwin questioned as the Venoms looked at each other. "2022." Y/N answered which made the Scouts freeze. They blinked several times and reacted like how the elite soldiers digested their information. "2-2022?" Armin confirmed. "Yes, 2022." Valentina said, emphasizing the year. "Well, we are certainly not from here." Erwin stated making the Venoms look at them with suspicious eyes. The Scouts became aware of their expressions making them wary.

"You're saying the truth right?" Y/N asked them, her question made them uneasy. "Yes," Levi said as he looked at her. "I knew it." Y/N said making them look at her with confusion. "What? I don't understand," Hange stated. "Why aren't you surprised?" Jean asked. "Kid, we have area 51 for a reason." Audrey answered, sipping her drink. "What's area 51?" Eren asked. "Nothing!" Valentina replied. "None of your business." Y/N responded. "Why aren't you attacking us?" Armin asked. "You aren't attacking us, you proved that you're not harmful and violent and you also have good manners," Y/N answered. "Plus, I already knew from the first time we interacted." Y/N added. Erwin, Hange, and Levi were amazed by her quick observation, they were unaware that she already knew. She truly reads the situation fast. "I mean it's obvious, for me." Valor finished. 

"From the first time you entered an elevator to the AI that spoke for recognition. It was so obvious." Y/N said. Arthur then cleared his throat, making him the center of attention. "I just want to say that Squad S will be here in 6 days," he said as Y/N rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Would their bratty captain be here too?" Y/N asked, arms crossed. "Yes. Please get in good terms." Arthur said, Y/N looked at him with dissatisfied eyes. The eyes that only Arthur knows.

The Scouts looked at each other from Y/N's sudden statements.
