Shigure's pov.
I was spending time with Hatori, enjoying some tea. *sigh* Now this is relaxing. No new deadline for a book. No annoying teenagers fighting. Just me, calming tea, and most importantly peace and quiet. Then we heard the phone began to ring. I spoke to soon. I thought as Hatori hurried to answer. I watched him closely, trying to figure out what was the problem.
"Hatori Sohma speaking.... Momiji? What's the matter? Hey slow down.. Take a deep breath. Good, now tell me calmly what happened. Who was in a accident?... MOMOKO!!?" That cought my attention. "Where are you?.. Okay I'm on my." Hatori said, an extremely worried look on his face as he hung up. "What happened to Momoko?" I asked as I stood up, all the calmness I once felt now gone. "Momoko was in a hit and run. She's on her way to the hospital as we speak." Hatori explained as he grabbed his jacket. "I'm coming with you!" I said strictly.
Time skip.
We made it to a hospital and went to the reception desk. We explained who we were and who we were looking for. We quickly signed and filled out the forms that were needed before rushing off to the waiting room. There we saw the kids, all huddled up together, and all of them looking worried and gloomy. Tohru looked the worse of them all, the tear stains still looked fresh on her face. Not surprising, Momoko is her aunt and her only family member who cares for her, other than her grandfather. Momiji and Kisa sat close to her, hugging her tightly, for comfort.
"Hatori. Shigure." Yuki said when he saw us coming. "What took you so long?" Kyo asked annoyed as he glared at us. We ignored them as we walked over to Tohru, who looked like she was in a daze. "Tohru.. are you alright?" Hatori asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. She jumped slightly as she looked up at us. "Hat-hatori...is, is aunty Momoko going..going to be o-okay?" She asked as tears threatened to fall once more. If Momoko saw her now, she'd be heart broken. I thought as my own heart began to ache even more than it already did.
"I'm sorry Tohru, but.." "Of course she will! Did you forget just how strong she is!? Not just that, but she promised to look after you. There's no way she'd leave you behind." I quickly interrupted Hatori before he said something that would upset her. I gave them my most reassuring smile I could muster up. And it seemed to have worked, everyone seemed more at ease than they were a few seconds ago. However, I believe the only reason I said that was to make me feel better, I just wish I could believe my own words.
I sat down next to Hatori in complete silence. I kept twiddling my thumbs. About ten minutes later we heard loud yelling coming from the reception desk. "I wonder who that could be." I said as I stood up. "What in the world?" Hatori asked as he, Kyo, Yuki and myself went to see what all the camotion was about. When we got there all of us eather sweatdropped or grew tick marks all over in annoyens at the sight before us. Ayame was in a fit with the receptionist, yelling at her cousing a scene.
"That moron.." Kyo muttered to himself. "I don't believe this." Yuki said as he shook his head in frustration. "So he's stupid enough to cause a scene even in a hospital.." Hatori said annoyed. "Why am I not surprised?" I asked as me and Hatori walked over to stop him before he got himself thrown out. "Sorry ma'am, he's with us." Hatori said as both Kyo and Yuki grabbed Ayame and covered his mouth. "Please excuse him. He's extremely worried about our friend. We'll keep him out of trouble." I assured the fuming receptionist. "You better or all of you will be kicked out." She threatened us with a harsh glare.
We dragged him back to where the others were waiting. Hatori kept him in check as we all continued to wait.. and wait.. and wait. I was lost in a daze when I suddenly heard a sound. I looked over and saw it was Kisa who's stomach was growling. "Someone sounds hungry." Haru said in his usual emotionless voice. "I'll get us all some snacks and drinks. How does that sound?" I asked as I got up once more. "Thank you." Kisa said with a small blush on her face.
"What does everyone want?" I asked then everyone told me what they wanted. So I went to the nearest vending machine. I saw that they only had creamsoda and cola for drinks, and by the snacks they had different sorts of chips, and a lot of different pocky flavors. I payed, pressed the button of all the snacks and drinks, gathered everything together and went back to see a doctor talking to Tohru. "What's going on?" I asked Hatori while handing a drink and chips to Haru, who was sitting next to him.
"That's the doctor who treated Momoko. She's out of surgery and doing great. There's nothing to worry about." The doctor smiled. Upon hearing those words Tohru let out a sigh of relief before instantly sitting down, trying to recover from the shock and worry she felt just moments ago. "May whe see her?" Momiji asked hopefully. Stopped and looked at everyone before taking a deep breath, "I'm afraid she's still unconscious and she needs her rest. But I suppose you could go in and see her for five minutes each. That's all the time I can give you."
"Five minutes?" Tohru said as she stood up before smiling happily at the doctor, "That's more than enough time. Thank you for everything!" She bowed greatfully. The doctor told us where her room was and all the children decided to go in first. I went to the gift shop to see what they had. However I didn't see anything that she might like, so I went to a flower shop that wasn't to far from the hospital. There i found orange and yellow tulips. It brought back some old memories.
Flash back.
We were around twelve years old and on our way home after school. When it suddenly started to rain out of nowhere. Both me and Momoko ran to find cover and found a bus stop with a slightly leaky roof. We were both already soaking wet from the pouring rain.
"Man. That came out of nowhere." I said as I took my bag of my shoulder. "Now I wish Hatori had come with us. He would've had his umbrella." Momoko said as she brushed her fingers through her wet hair, trying to dry it as much as she could. "Just our luck both he and Ayame got a cold." I pouted as I fell onto my butt in an exhausting manner. I heard a soft giggling next to me before Momoko sat down by my side. "I get the feeling that you and I will also get a cold thanks to this downpour." She explained with a smile, before refocusing on the rain.
"You know, I've always loved the rain." "Really? Why?" I asked confused, raising and eyebrow at her questioningly. "Simple. Whenever it rains it gives me hope that it washes all our grief, our sadness, our pain and regrets away. Isn't that something to be happy about?" She said as she looked at me with pure happiness. I felt heat rush to my ears as I heard her word. "Shigure are you okay!? Your turning red!" She began to panic as she placed her hand on my forehead. I swatted it away as I avoided eye contact.
"I'm fine." I said still not looking at her. "You sure. You didn't catch a cold or anything, right?" She asked getting slightly closer to me. I felt how heat rushed all over my face at how close she was to me. "I'm fine really! No need to worry." I assured her. "Hey look the rain is slowing down!" I quickly changed the subject. I quickly got to my feet and continued on my way home once more. She followed me, though she didn't seem to pay much attention to anything else, as she admired the rain drops that was dripping of the tree leaves.
"Hey look at that!" She said running ahead of me. I walked over to where she was crouching by a houses front yard. She had a happy smile on her face as she looked at some bright colored flowers. "What's so great about flowers?" I asked. "Their called tulips. And their my favorite kind of flowers. They always look so full of joy." She explained, "And if I ever end up with someone I hope he gives me tulips to show his love and care."
I would never ever forget that day, because of the amazing look on her face. Tulips to show her their love and care, huh? I thought as I went to the lady at the counter. "Hello how can I help you today?" She asked with a smile. "Hello, a very dear friend of mine is currently in the hospital and she absolutely loves tulips. So if it's not to much to ask, may I get a big bouquet of both peach and blush pink?" I asked hopeful that they might still have those two colors. "Mmm, peach and blush pink? I do believe we have some in the back. Just a seck." She said as she went to the back to check.
While she was busy arranging the flowers and tieing it up with a bow I saw a card that cought my eye. "Would you like to add the card sir? It'll only be two yen extra." I thought about it before nodding, I knew exactly what I was gonna tell her. I paid and left with the bouquet in hand.
