It had been a few weeks since the alley incident, and Loki still hadn't told my dad about it. I was sure he was just waiting for the right moment, though. I wouldn't put it past him.
I decided to spend some of my time baking. I used to bake with my mum and siblings a lot, so I decided to make some cookies. Once they were in the oven I leaned against the counter and closed my eyes.
I heard a door open, and I kept my eyes shut. I listened to the person's footsteps. They were quiet, but heavier than any Avenger with quiet footsteps. I heard the safety of a gun click off, and let out a breath.
I had inherited the mutation that my dad had, meaning that I could hit pretty much any target I aimed for. I quickly grabbed my collapsed bow from my side and opened it before aiming an arrow and letting it fly. It landed in the intruder's shoulder, and he cried out in pain. Glass shattered and people in all black clothing entered the tower through the windows, guns raised. I hid behind the counter, and peeped over to shoot a few arrows. One of them was an electric arrow and zapped the three people closest to it.
Green light flashed and suddenly people began screaming. I glanced around the corner to see Loki fighting against the agents, stabbing them and blasting them away with magic. A few agents shot at him but... the god was bulletproof.
The other Avengers arrived as Loki stabbed the last intruder in the shoulder.
"Who the hell are they?" Steve asked.
"I do not know," Loki replied. "But now there is blood on your floor, Stark."
"Thanks, Reindeer Games. I noticed that."
Loki gave the billionaire a grin, and Tony rolled his eyes.
"They're a part of a gang," my dad said quietly. "I - I killed a lot of their guys."
Nat placed her hand on his shoulder, and I frowned. I knew what my dad had done during the years that my family and I had blipped. I didn't entirely agree with it, but... the blip had been damaging, especially mentally. I knew that my dad hadn't been in the right place.
"They are the same men who attacked Y/n in the alley," Loki said.
I glared at him, and my dad sighed.
"I'd hoped they'd only come after her once," he said.
I was confused for a moment, before I put two and two together. The god had told my dad, even though I'd told him not to. I narrowed my eyes at Loki, imagining pushing him out of a window. He looked at me with an eyebrow raised, and I looked away.
"It's not safe for her at the tower," Nat said. I narrowed my eyes at her, and she rolled her own. "Yes, Y/n, we know you can take care of yourself, but it would be better if you went somewhere else."
My heart sank. This was it. I was going back home, before I could even become an Avenger for real.
"I think the compound would be safest," Sam suggested. "It's got good security. Someone could go with her to make sure nothing happens."
My hopes soared. The compound had been rebuilt after the battle against Thanos, and it was apparently the same as before. Staying at the compound would be fun, and maybe I could bond with the other person. I really hoped it would be Wanda I was staying with.
"It needs to be someone that the public wouldn't know is missing," Tony said, calculating. "Reindeer Games, that means you."
And just like that, my hopes came tumbling down like a bird being shot out of the sky. Loki? I didn't want to stay with him at the compound. My dad eyed me warily, and so did a few of the other Avengers.
"Does it have to be him?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"Unfortunately," Tony said. "Don't kill him."
this one's really short sorry loves
