I woke up early the next morning and went for a run around the compound. It was nice listening to the wind rustle through the trees, and the birds singing their songs. I went to the training rooms after and used some of the equipment there. I found this really cool room that created holographic images and you had to fight your way through the obstacles. It was called the Harm room. It stood for Holographic Augmented Reality Machine. After about an hour messing with that, I went to my room and had a shower before eating breakfast and curling up in one of the chairs with the book I was currently reading.
I heard footsteps after about an hour, and looked up to see Loki enter the room. I narrowed my eyes, disgruntled that he had disturbed my peace, and started to stand up.
"Lady Y/n," Loki said hurriedly, "please stay. I will not bother you."
I regarded him suspiciously, but slowly curled back up on the chair. Loki sat on the sofa across from me and opened the book he was carrying. I squinted at the title, and felt a strange excitement when I realised it was (favourite/book). Loki looked up at me, and I quickly looked back to my own book.
"Can we simply... get along?"
"I thought you said you wouldn't bother me," I said, before pretending to be completely immersed in my book. I heard the god sigh.
"Look, we are both stuck here together, so we may as well make the best of it. Besides, we are on the same side, are we not?"
I scowled, but didn't say anything.
"Or you could simply not talk to me at all... that will work just fine," Loki said after a moment, opening his book and starting to read.
It took me a couple of minutes to actually start reading again, but eventually, I found myself enjoying the peace, even if Loki was there. It was my book that was making me feel safe and warm, not him.
After an hour, my phone started ringing with a call from my dad. Loki nodded at me politely and left, and I answered the phone.
"Hey, dad," I said. "Have you taken the gang down yet?"
"Not yet," my dad said with a sigh. "They're a lot bigger than we'd anticipated. I just wanted to see how you were going."
"I'm good," I said. "You should get Tony to add a Harm room in the Avengers' Tower. It's so cool."
I heard my dad laugh.
"It is pretty cool," my dad agreed. "Have you killed Loki yet?"
"Why would I kill Loki?" I grumbled, sinking into the chair. "I'd be arrested, and then I couldn't be an Avenger."
"That's the only reason, huh?" my dad asked. "Nothing like 'oh, he's actually an alright person', or anything like that?"
"No," I said with a snort, purposely forgetting the peace Loki and I were reading in just before.
My dad sighed.
"Okay, kiddo, we'll try to hurry up the process," he said. "Should be good in a few days."
"Thanks, Dad," I said.
"Okay. I'll talk to you soon. Love you," he said.
"I love you too, Dad," I said.
There was a click as the phone hung up, and I sighed to myself. I really hoped my dad and the rest of the Avengers would get rid of this gang quickly, so I could go back to being an Avenger. Even though I hadn't gone on a real mission yet.
Oh well. I had the rest of my life to be an Avenger. I could wait a few days.
