"Your highness Oh- you’re up already?’ Alice asked surprised as she headed towards the windows to pull the curtains apart

“Of course you are” she giggled answering her own question “today’s quite special after-all“. I said nothing as she headed towards me and herded me into the bath, after I was sufficiently clean, the next hurdle were my clothes.

“Can you be a bit faster alice?” I asked gently after forty-five minutes had passed and I was still in my bath robe “I don’t have to start preparing for the ceremony until later so how about a random outfit?”

“Of course not your highness!” She whipped around sternly “today is your first promise ceremony, every outfit has to stand out and be memorable!”

“Alright alright” I nodded, resigned “then could I at least get a snack?”
“Of course, your highness” she replied and bowed before scurrying out of the room. I let out a quiet chuckle at her cuteness and moved into my closet, might as well see if I could Alice pick an outfit.

As I gently pushed the silk and jeweled outfits aside, a velvet cloth bag caught my attention. It was black and plain nothing like the elegantly embellished one I’d received from my mother. On impulse, I pulled down the zipper and looked inside noticing a folded note tucked into one of the seams, I
carefully pulled it out taking note of my elegantly written name on the surface, I could already guess who this was from.

I made this specially for today, as my congratulatory gift to both you and Naerys. It would be my utmost pleasure to have your radiance enhanced by this dress.

I smiled a little as I envisioned Tyrion’s face as he wrote the note, his soft smile, bright emerald eyes and maybe even a slight blush. I tucked the note into my sleeves before stepping out and hanging the dress bag, after all it wouldn’t do to refuse Tyrion’s sweet gesture.

“Oh! you’ve picked a dress?” Alice asked as she placed a small tray heavy with a gorgeous cheesecake and a cup of tea on my vanity. My eyes sparkled at the dessert and I quickly returned to my previous position before nodding
“It’s from Tyrion”

Alice let out a loud squeal as bounced over to the dress “Prince Tyrion is so sweet!” I nodded in agreement and watched as she carefully pulled down the zipper, another loud squeal was made as Alice saw the dress

“this is perfect! Prince Tyrion truly is our kingdom’s top designer!.”

An hour and one cheesecake later Alice was finally done. “There!” she clapped her hands as she placed a beautiful tiara on my head “you’re ready princess”.

“Thank you Alice” I said gratefully as I surveyed my appearance, Alice as usual had done an impeccable job. “Of course” she giggled “Prince Naerys is waiting in the throne room.”

I hurried out of the room, my heart beating faster with every step I took down the stairs. Finally, I arrived before the throne room and paused taking a minute to soothe the nonexistent rumples in my dress. I cleared my throat before pushing open the door and striding in.

It appeared Naerys hadn’t noticed the noise as he hadn’t turned to me and was standing awkwardly in the center of the room taking in the lavish decorations. Even though the ceremony wasn’t going to be held indoors every inch of the palace had been decorated.

My eyes scanned his outfit and indeed he and I were matching, how thoughtful of Tyrion. I approached him soundlessly and wrapped my arms around his waist. I tightened my arms to prevent him from turning around and whispered into his ears

Relax

Once Naerys realized I was the one, he relaxed and leaned into me. I placed my head on his shoulder and inhaled his warm salty scent. We stayed like that for a minute before I drew back and turned him to face me. Up close, I could see the tiny gems embedded in his sleeves that sparkled like his gorgeous eyes and soon like his ceremonial jewel.

I openly dragged my eyes over his form taking in the intricate details of his clothes and how well they hugged his body making Naerys’ blush deepen by the second. I kissed him softly before pulling back and staring into his eyes “you look beautiful, Naerys”.

He blushed and averted his eyes “so do you Amar”. I grinned quoting Alice’s earlier words “Of course, today is very important after all, are you” I waited a few minutes before asking softly "are
you ready?”. He exhaled a light breath before looking up at me determination shining in his eyes “I’m ready to remain by your side Amar “. I smiled

How cute.

“Then… let’s go”. I took his hand and led him to the garden the actual ceremony was taking place. Servants scurried around making last minute changes and trying their best to make sure everything was perfect. The ceremony would not officially start until the sun had set but as the hosts Mother and I were to wait outside to welcome the guests as they arrived. Naerys could come too but I didn’t want him meeting any more people than he had to, the fact that his mother wouldn’t be attending
would show that she truly had no regard for him and the guests would see that.

Naerys didn’t have to bear their scathing looks and snide comments, today was special and I wanted
to surround him with only those who loved him and vice-versa. Naerys’ eyes lit up as we reached the gardens, A marquee tent had been erected for the important guests; my family and and Naery’s family. Chairs and tables were arranged just outside the tents for the other royals, their entourage
and some of my mother’s important vassals. Fairy lights were strung everywhere including the gazebo in the middle where the actual ceremony would take place.

I led Naerys over to the marquee and sat him down “In a couple of minutes I need to go and greetthe arriving guests, do you want to come with me or stay here?, You could also go back to the castle and wait till I come and get you. What do you want?” He stared at me, silver eyes slightly trembling before he spoke “I think I’ll stay here Amar, I-I want to show everyone that I’m not afraid and that I don’t care about them.”

My eyes softened as I realized Naerys had accepted that there would be some unpleasant people today. I bent down and softly kissed his forehead “Don’t worry too much, Alice will be by your side so you’ll only have to speak to the really important people.” Naerys nodded and flashed a dazzling smile “ Go now Amar, didn’t you say the guests would be arriving soon?” I sighed and nodded “then… see you in a couple of hours Naerys.”

I quickly made my way to the doors of my palace where my mother was already waiting “mother!” I called before rushing into her arms. “Goodness, Amaryllis” she laughed as she hugged me back “don’t you think you’re getting too old for this?, you’re even having your first ceremony
today” she asked with a teasing tone. “Of course not mother, I’ll never be too old for this”. She laughed again before I let her go.

“Has anyone arrived yet?”

“Not yet thankfully seeing as you just got here”

I nodded and looked around, majority of the servants were here waiting to lead the guests to their assigned seats, after that they’d been given the rest of the night off. I sighed as I spotted the first carriage driving up the castle path, this was going to be a long hour

“It’s my pleasure to finally meet you your majesty”

“Welcome Duchess Isla”

“Have a lovely time Countess Charlotte”

**************

“Was that the last guest?” I asked exhausted

Mrs Edith nodded as she crossed off the last name from the scroll in her hands, mother smiled as she patted my shoulder “you did well for your first time amaryllis, but now you’d better get Naerys and change. I’ll check with the priestess to make sure everything is ready for the ceremony.”

I smiled at her and nodded before taking off. Even though I could get to the garden in ten minutes using my super speed, I didn’t want to bother plus I could make a grand entrance if I landed in the middle of the garden. When the garden was just below me, I slowly lowered myself approaching slowly so everyone below could see me coming. After a few seconds I landed softly without raising even a speck of dust. I made my way straight to Naerys avoiding everyone who looked like they wanted to talk to me, I sighed in relief as I noticed Naerys talking with his dad and a few feet away stood Alice and
Wes.

The guests of the ceremony watched as Princess Amaryllis headed for her soon to be harem member without stopping to talk to anybody else. The students of the academy weren’t the least bit
surprised, with how fiercely the
princess protected Naerys and how
harshly she punished anyone stupid enough to cross him, It was to be
expected.

But to the adults present this was shocking, they had noticed the mermaid prince wasn’t present to greet them as tradition stated meaning the princess only cared about his comfort. They weren’t stupid; they’d all noticed that Queen Minerva of the mermaid kingdom was absent which meant to
them that she wasn’t going to be supporting the Princess either as the supreme queen or as the queen of the vampire kingdom. They had expected that and were only here to assess the princess and her chances of rising to either position; To support or to not
support? That was the question they were here to answer. If the princess had truly changed as every student from the academy had insisted on then they would keep an eye on her. Some of them had already made their decision but there were also others who remained neutral and would let the princess’s abilities speak for themselves.

“I’m sorry to interrupt father but Naerys and I need to get ready for the
ceremony now”

“Amaryllis! welcome dear and of course Naerys and I can talk later”

I smiled at Naerys’ father before taking Naerys’ hand and leading him out of the tent.

"Hold on Amaryllis" I inwardly cursed as I pretended not to hear her, I really didn’t want to deal with her or any of her schemes today.
