Hello y'all, sorry for the absence, I've just been settling into uni (nevermind, I've been settling for 11 weeks) but in 3 weeks I'll be on vacation so I absolutely promise after that my updates will be once a week. I promise! Please don't be too mad... And in keeping with that, I'll have the next part of this out by Wednesday (I got carried away so this will have to be a two part chapter). I would have preferred to get this out by Tuesday but I have a pretty packed week. With placements and an exam and lots of lectures, but I'm determined to do this.
So.... here's the first part (and yes, I know this is an awful place to end a chapter but....)

“Darius?”
“yes princess?”
“Do you plan on getting off me anytime soon?”
“No?” He responded, making himself more comfortable by burrowing more into me. Mother gave me a knowing look and I felt my face heat up. After the demon queen had been.... removed from the premises, the supreme queen had announced the beginning of the celebratory banquet and had left the room with the others.
Mother went to check on Lillian and Collette and returned to this scene, hence the knowing look and my heated face. I sighed before slowly running my hand through Darius’s hair marveling at the softness, “I understand you were scared and worried Darius but I’m fine now, you can sit next to me at the banquet if the supreme queen allows it”
I looked to mother for confirmation, she tapped her chin thoughtfully “I’m sure she could make an exception considering Prince Darius did risk his life for yours”
I turned back to him with a smile “Thank you for that Darius, I shudder to think what would have happened if an enemy soldier had gotten to me first. But... why were you there anyways? You could’ve gotten into serious trouble, and monstrous illusions? I had no idea you could do that”.
Darius laughed into my neck “Neither did I. My mother made sure I learnt how to wield my magic just in case, but it was always for defense, I’ve never gone on the offensive before.”
“You came charging into battle with no combat training? that was a risky move Darius, what if an enemy soldier had managed to reach you?” I chastised, if Darius had gotten hurt because of me...
He made a dismissive noise “That wasn’t important, who would dare hurt me? and besides I got to you in time”
I said nothing, choosing to not point out that the demon soldiers had attacked various members of royalty. Darius had risked himself to save me and despite how he acted, I could see he had indeed been afraid, both for himself and me.“How did you know I was in danger anyway? Were we so connected that you could just ‘sense’ I was in trouble?” I added teasingly to cheer him up.
He looked up and extracted himself from me pointedly looking away from my eyes “Tyrion’s personal attendant told me. Apparently, on the verge of passing out as soon as he arrived home, Tyrion insisted you were in danger before asking for me to be told. And I wasted no time in getting to you”
I lurched forward, ignoring the sharp jolt of pain that shot down my spine “Tyrion’s not feeling well? What do you mean he passed out? why didn’t you tell me earlier?!”
“Calm down princess, you only just woke up and then the supreme queen came in”. He had a point but still.. I turned to mother worriedly but before I could even speak, she gave me a sharp look
“No amaryllis, you need to rest. I doubt you could even ride a horse in your state and I’m not risking you travelling on your own”.
I was about to protest when Darius laid a hand on my arm, “she’s right princess. Tyrion wouldn’t want you pushing yourself any more today, you can use my mirror and we’ll both check on him, how’s that?”
