About a week into the vacation, Nami did exactly that. She decided the best way to get Zoro to smile or even look happy was with their short friend, Chopper, who had a father-son like relationship with the green haired man. The ginger woman would grin mischievously as she caught Luffy gazing over, she nonchalantly walked over

“Something caught your eye?” she asked casually

Nami’s sudden, not really, appearance seemed to have startled the ravenette but was quickly brushed off when he grinned brightly and shouted “Nope!” He seemed to pause “Actually...”

Nami grinned internally, getting him to outright admit, ‘You’ve out done yourself Nami, why thank you Nami’

“There's a big beetle on Zoro’s head” Luffy laughed

The ginger nearly keeled over, ‘That idiot!’ She wanted to scream, she looked over to where Luffy seemed to be pointing, low and behold, there sat a long-horned beetle in Zoro’s hair which must have been mistaken for moss or grass. Nami sighed, looking back to the ravenette

“Shouldn't you get it off him?” She raised a brow

A lightbulb seemed to go off in Luffy’s head before he raced off to go throw himself onto Zoro to go claim the bug for his collection or something. The beetle flew off but the scene that was left in its aftermath peeked Nami’s curiosity. The force Luffy had thrown himself at had caused the two of them to fall to the ground with Luffy on top of Zoro’s chest and his hand wrapped around Luffy’s waist showing he had at least attempted to catch him. Luffy looked upward, resting his chin on the others chest to find a silver eye staring back at his deep chocolate ones. Warmth seemed to find its way onto the ravenette’s cheeks as he stared. ‘Had Zoro’s eye always been so pretty?’ Luffy wondered, his hand reached out to trace the long scar across the man's left eye, curious if he could see the other one and if it were a cloudy mercury like the other.

“Zoro’s sunburnt again?” Luffy blurted upon seeing Zoro’s cheeks a deep red like how they were the day he’d won that large tiger plush

Before Zoro could fathom an answer the sound of a phone camera shutter sounded, they both looked over to find Nami, phone raised and aimed the two. Zoro shoved Luffy off himself and shot up to his feet. He began to sprint after Nami, who let out a shriek and ran off into the woods.

“No! No! No! Zoro you can't go in there! You won't be able to find your way back!” Chopper screamed out, but it was too late; they were both deep into the forest.

Luffy let out a cackle, holding his stomach as he rolled on the dirt ground. Chopper wailed which caused Robin to come rushing out, her mother-hen instincts flaring up. She let out a calm sigh hearing the situation,

“Zoro will be back eventually. If it gets late, we can send Usopp to fetch him. Don’t fret” Robin patted the brunette’s head

The sun had sunk behind the horizon line some time ago and now the moon bared its light down upon the green-haired man, who most certainly lost. Though he may never admit it, in fact if you asked him, he would tell you the forest was moving around him. Zoro grumbled as he wandered, Nami was right in front of him and next thing he knew she was gone. He rubbed the back of his neck,

“Have I seen this tree before?” Zoro mumbled

He stared, no, glared at this oddly shaped tree he swore was only half alive. He groaned in dismay; he had been walking in a circle this entire time, his palm smacked against his forehead and slid down his face. As he continued forward, now wandering, Zoro allowed his mind to drift back to the scene from earlier in the day. He hadn’t processed what had occurred in the moment, there was Luffy’s large chocolate eyes always filled with wonder that stared intently at his singular one and there was his hand that touched his scared eye ever so gently. Zoro could feel that ‘sunburn’ from earlier creeping up from his neck and carefully dusting onto his cheeks, he shook his head as if he were trying to shake off his embarrassment. It was a perfectly normal thing that happens to people all the time, he told himself. Zoro was not in love with his best friend. He was sure of it.

“Zoro!!” An excited voice shouted out

Speak of the devil, almost as if he knew Zoro had been thinking of him, he showed himself. The man turned to see Luffy charging at him with a tired Usopp trying to keep up. Unlike last time, Zoro caught the boy in his arms after he had flung himself forward.

“Found you!” He grinned, “Usopp! Lead the way back!” Luffy laughed

Zoro let out a sigh along with Usopp almost in sync. Looks like Luffy had drained him just with the walk here. The noirette guided them out of the woods, Luffy, in Zoro’s arms, made sure he stayed behind Usopp and didn’t somehow get lost again. The group of three were welcomed back with some waves from the others who sat around a campfire with some things for s’mores, a cooler filled with booze and a few cans of soda. Luffy zipped out of Zoro’s hold overed to the bag of marshmallows to make an attempt to eat them

“Luffy!” Nami squawked, landing a swift blow on his head.

Luffy gave a pout while Robin softly giggled, she motioned for Luffy to come watch as she and Chopper roasted their mallows, then placed it between some gram crackers and chocolate. She gave hers to him, since Luffy was practically drooling to try it. It was gone with a single bite and stars practically became the boy's eyes

“So yummy!” He shouted, “More! I want more!”

Robin smiled, “You will have to make them yourself, captain”

Luffy’s grin widened, he enjoyed it every time Robin would call him that, it was a dumb nickname that Zoro had called him first as a complete joke, but Luffy decided he liked it. His grin had widened for a second reason, he could have as many dessert sandwiches as he wanted! As long as he made them, Luffy would do just that.
