A month into the vacation, it was now warm humid July. Everything had been going great, many adventures were had, they discovered only one room had a working ac unit. Zoro got lost quite a few more times that it became a game: Whoever finds him first gets the ac room, which happens to be Zoros room. It was often Luffy who found him, and though they never said anything Luffy seemed to wear a lot of Zoros shirts. On the occasion it was someone else who found him, they made Zoro go sleep on the couch in the front room of the cabin and sometimes a goofball with a straw-hat would join him.
Everyone noticed that they were suddenly closer, everyone but Zoro that was. Quickly one by one the crew noticed that the moss head was completely oblivious to his surroundings or that it simply did not bother him. Not when Luffy threw himself at or on top of Zoro or when he stole his food or even when he interrupted his nap. It didn’t seem like Zoro cared when Luffy did stuff like this, but if anyone else did it they would most likely be stabbed in their sleep or something else that would include a gruesome death via murder.
One particular night Zoro was nowhere to be found, gone without a trace. As said before this was a normal occurrence, the only difference this time was Luffy was missing as well but as long as he was with Zoro there was no cause for alarm. Loud, bubbly laughter played musically throughout the woods, Luffy’s head thumped against Zoro’s shoulder as they rested together under a tree, he lifted his head and poked at Zoro’s cheek
“Its Zoro’s turn! Pick something!” Luffy giggled
“Hmm..” The green head hummed in though, “Ah, I spy a-”
“With my little eye!” The other interrupted with a bright smile
“Right,” Zoro chuckled, “I spy with my little eye, something that smiles brighter than any sun”
Luffy leaned off the older, thumb to chin as his looked around, lips becoming more and more pursed the longer he went without an answer. Before finally giving up with an exasperated sigh “What is it? I give up!”
Zoro leaned over to Luffy, “you..”
He says barely above a whisper before gently pressing his lips to the noirette’s temple, he pulls away with heated cheeks. A moment of silence passed then it filled with laughter, loud unwavering laughter loud enough to pierce the heavens itself. Luffy’s smile was stretched from ear to ear, if Zoro hadn't known any better he would be sure his cheeks were rubber. His face went completely red with embarrassment as Luffy continued to howl with laughter clutching his stomach
“Zoros so cheesey!” He breathed out between chortles
God, did Zoro want the world to swallow him whole, his hand went over his face trying to cover the red that seeped onto his ears and knuckles. He full to his side, curling in on himself, he had never felt so stupid in his life. Which was saying a lot. Luffy’s laughter went to a slow as he threw himself onto Zoro’s side,
“Zorooo! Zoro! Hey Zoro!”
With giggles Luffy tugged Zoro over and pulled his arms away from his face. The boys chin rested carefully on the others chest with a mischievous smile, Zoro peeked out from his shut eye to see how the moon shone down upon Luffy as though he were an angel. Zoro quickly turned his head away. Luffy quickly sat up, his smile turning to a grin and gripped Zoro’s shirt by the collar and began to tug him upward
“Hey! What’re you-!” The older shouted in shock
Luffy’s lips pressed against Zoros lip, his eyes shut carefully while Zoros held open wide then fluttered shut. His hand shooting to the others soft cheeks, they broke apart but didn’t move far from one another, Luffy could feel the others soft breaths on his face.
Luffy broke the silence, “If Zoro wanted a kiss he could've asked”
Heat boiled under Zoros cheeks, “Whatever...” he grumbled “What does this mean?”
Luffy hummed in thought, “Zoro’s my boyfriend now, cause I love Zoro and he loves me too” He smiled
The man laughed through his nose, “I like that, has a nice ring to it”
“Now Zoro’s gotta say it!”
“Say what?”
“That Zoro loves me too! Its only fair” Luffy pouted
Zoros words caught in his throat, embarrassment from earlier creeped up again, this time he buried his face into Luffy’s shoulder and draped his arms around his waist. Muffled and quiet Zoro whispered out
“I love you too”
