My buzzing phone woke me up from my sleep.

"Hello?"

"Bennett Alexander Hathaway Are you still in bed!!!"I winced my mothers shrill voice came from the phone.

"What do you want mom?" I asked groggily.

"Don't take that tone with me Bennett...." She voice had a warning tone.

"You and your girlfriend are ready for the ball yes?"

"Yes mom. We are ready." I sighed.

"So what does your girlfriend do anyway?" she questioned.

"She is a medical student." I answered a proud feeling overtaking me.

Shaking it off I continued.

"Yea she is in her first year of med school."

"A medical student huh? That's a surprise." The shock in her voice is evident.

"What you didn't think I could do it?"

"Well I'm just surprised son, I didn't think you could get a future doctor."

"Well I guess you will have to wait and see won't you mother."

"We will see, oh and Ben, you better not be playing any kind of game here."

"Of course mother."

"See you on Monday."

Hanging up the phone, the date the 19th, I have to start packing.

It's a long flight to New York from here. My mothers ball in on the 24th and we are staying til new year's.

Oh! Look at the time I have to go!

I rushed in and out if the bathroom running a hand through my hair I bolted out the door.

Incoming call from Lauren

"Hello?" I asked wondering why she was calling.

"Um....hi I was just wondering when we leave for you parents house?"

"We leave tomorrow."

"Tomorrow! That's not enough time! I have class!!!"

"Cancel it." I stated firmly.

"What! No I can't, I won't!" She exclaimed.

"Listen, I won't have your stubbornness ruin this for me.... I won't hesitate to find someone else...." My voice had a warning tone to it.

I hope she won't call my bluff, I couldn't find someone else in this short time. And I already told my mom about her being a med student.

"Fine." She said bitterly.
