Chapter 25: The UN Meeting Part 1

New York City, 13 december 2026.

A huge crowd of news reporters was waiting in front of the UN building for the delegations of all Earth's countries to arrive.

It was expected that every country on the planet would have attendend (even The Vatican and North Korea) but, obviously, the most waited were the lomorians.

"Finally it seems the lomorians have arrived." Said a news reporter.

Meanwhile...

"Don't be nervous. I think everything will be allright." Said Giovanni.

"I know but I'm a bit nervous because I will have to represent my family and my country in front of an entire new world." Said a worried Sefy.

After that the lomorians went inside the UN building while avoiding reporters and other curious people.

They also made a brief tour of the building before the meeting.

"I have a question that has been in my mind for a while." Said Sefy.

"Do you still have kings and queens in some countries ?"

"Yes but mostly they are symbolic because the real power is in the hand of a Prime Minister and a Parliament chosen by people in democratic way. There are still absolute monarchies but they are very rare and dictatorships more common than them." Explained Giovanni.

"For example, The United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, ...  are still kingdoms despite being democracies and members of the EU together with Italy" He finished explaining.

"Ok. Thank you for the explanation." Said the princess.

"You're welcome your majesty." Replied Giovanni.

A few moments later...

"As the UN's General Secretary I welcome you, representatives of Earth's countries and of the Lomor Empire." 

"Today will be a day to remember for in our history and I also hope that both worlds will become closer together in order to preserve peace." The Secretary continued.

"Now I will concede the honor to speak to Italy's foreign minister." 

"Thank you General Secretary. Today I have the honor to speak in front of the entire world in behalf of my country." Said the minister.

"As you already know, a portal opened  in august 2026 between Earth and a world that could be described as "fantasy"."

"We have already sent scientists to investigate that world and begun diplomatic talks with a nation beyond the portal called "Lomor Empire" and today we have also brought a delegation with us."

"Your Majesty Princess Sefy. I leave the honor to speak to you." Finished the minister.

"Thank you Prime Minister. In behalf of my country I'm honored to be here on Earth in this important day. I also hope that peace will prevail and that we will learn from each other." Said the princess.

"Sorry your majesty. I have a question if I may..." Said the chinese representative.

"Did you use the translation spell again in order to speak english?" 

"Yes. Valentinia casted it before." She replied.

"Ok. Thank you your majesty." 

"Could this "magic" be used to read someone's mind like Valentinia used it to obtain the knowdlege about language? I will report it to my superiors." He thought.

"I also have a question your majesty." Said the russian representative.

"What are your intention towards Earth? Do you want to forge an alliance with the Nato?" 

"We only want to keep good relations with every Earth nation without having a preference." Replied the princess.

"That answers the question. Thank you your majesty." Said the russian.

"As it was said in the previous UN meeting, NATO is only a defensive alliance." Said a NATO representative.

"Sorry your majesty but I have a question too... How could be sure that we can trust you?" Said the US representative.

"As you have seen, we are less advanced than Earth in our world despite having magic. My father would not want a war that he isn't sure to win." Replied the princess.

"I repeat, my country's goal is only to learn from Earth hoping that the latter learns about us too." She stated.

"We only want to trade, to have tourism and to study each other." 

"Thank you your highness Sefy. You could take your leave." Said the General Secretary.

"Now I would like to call Mr. David Wilson, an astronomer that was sent on the other side of the portal, because he has very important news." 

"Thank you General Secretary. It's an honor for me to speak in front of this assembly." Said the scientist.

"I'm here because me together with my team of astronomers made an important discovery... We have localized the planet where the Lomor Empire is and it is not very far from home..."

Everyone on Earth was shocked and eager to hear the scientist's words.

"The Lomor Empire is located on an Earth like planet orbiting the Sun like star "51 Pegasi", located about 50 light years from Earth."

"We have arrived at this conclusion because we have observed the stars during the nights and we have located some of them that are visible even on Earth." 

"We even have located the sun and "51 Pegasi b", a gas giant planet that was discovered in 1995 and that is located in the same solar system."

"We are currently studying and observing the other planets in that system together with the moon that orbits the planet where the Lomor Empire is and that is very similar to the Earth one."

"We have called the planet beyond the portal "Apollo 2026" like the moon missions because he is the Greek God of knowdlege in that ancient mythology".

"The only strange thing is that we have only discovered 51 Pegasi b and not the other planets in the past..." ended the astronomer.
