Categories

Mature/Smutty Stories:
Judge: hoeforjungkook69
This category is for all those stories that are based on sexual or other mature themes. There can be smut and mature themes in your story and it not be placed into this category as well if it fits better into another category. This category is exclusively for the stories where the plot is at least 75% smut or based solely around sexual themes.

Short Stories:

Judge: irissscx__

This category is for any type of short story, no matter the length. We classify a short story as one with less than 20 chapters unless they are super short chapters less than 1k words. (If you are worried your story doesn't fit in this category due to size just ask one of the judges or myself and we'll help you out!) This is also the category that all of those social media stories that DO NOT have any irl chapters would belong in.

Alpha/Beta/Omega Stories:

This category is for all of those stories that are set into the A/B/O universe. Meaning anything with alpha, betas, and omegas no matter the relationships or dynamics.

Polyamory Stories:
Judge: CanYouHearMyFear
This category is for any stories that have more than two people in a relationship together. Be that a sexual or romantic relationship it doesn't matter. As long as there are at least three people in the relationship the story would qualify as this category.

Supernatural Stories:
Judge: PrettyBoiTommo
This category is for all of the stories that have any type of supernatural elements to it. So from vampires, demons, werewolves, magic like witches and wizards as well as superhero sort of characters that don't have special powers from scientific means! So pretty much anything out of the ordinary is able to fit into this category, albeit if it doesn't steer too close to science. In that case, then the story would belong in the Science Fiction category.

Celebrity Stories:

This category is for all of those stories where one or more of the characters in your story are a celebrity figure, no matter what type that may be. That means as long as one of the characters is an idol be it a movie star, singer, professional sports star, a famous author, model, blogger, famous chef literally anything where they would have a celebrity status and go through celebrity problems and situations.

Science Fiction Stories:
Judge: xXAjronaXx
This category is for all of the stories that have themes that are fictional from a science standpoint. Meaning anything not scientifically proven possible would fit into this category. Not just things like space travel, robots, and aliens. Science Fiction is much broader than that! Things like male pregnancy (if it's not in the a/b/o universe), a made-up virus, most zombies if made by scientific means, a made-up species, literally ANYTHING that isn't scientifically proven correct fits here.

Dark/Horror Stories:

Judge: woogasquadd

This category is for any story that has a dark or horror theme to it. Thriller stories with jump scares of any kind, psychopath stories, murderer stories, mafia au's. Anything that would be considered dark or horror fits into this category.

Extreme Romance/Fluff Stories:

This category is for those stories that are all about romance. The ones where you're flipping through the pages and just want to coo 90% of the time with how sickly sweet the characters are towards each other. That sweet that the candy gets stuck between your teeth and you are unable to get it off. There can be drama in these stories, every story needs so rising action, but it must be solely based around the romance of the main characters.

Cliche Trope Stories:

This category is for all the stories that follow along with a cliche trope plot. Themes like enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, arranged relationships, fake relationships, honestly anything that follows one of the cliches that happen over and over in all different forms in all different fandoms would belong in here.

Royalty Stories:

Judge: PotatoDevil6

This category is for the stories that revolve around the characters being royalty, no matter the culture. Princes, princesses, kings, queens, emperors, emperesses. Literally, anything that would be considered royalty in the past or in a more modern setting either-or.

Historical/Past Themed Stories:

Judge: kpop77kpop

This category is for any stories that are centered in the past. Stories centered around the ancient costume themes that you see in lots of Asian dramas would belong here. Also those stories that are centered before like 2015 and show aspects that show that time period would fit here. Honestly, any story that shows that it's not in modern times and even a bit in the past would fit into this category.

Normal Stories:

Judge: wayviswavy
This category is for all of those stories that might not fit into any of the other categories above. Where all of the characters have normal everyday lives and jobs, don't fit into any of the cliche tropes, and aren't based solely around the romance of the characters.

Note: If you feel like none of these categories are right for your story or aren't sure which would be best to enter into please contact me or one of the judges and we will help you out as much as we possibly can!

Also, I'm posting the rules again here because a lot people in past contests didn't follow a few of them and the judges and I have thought maybe if we placed them in every part up until the entry everyone would actually read them this time!

Rules:

1. It MUST be a fanfiction story no matter what type. Anything ranging from celebrities, to movies, tv series, etc, as long as it's a fanfiction it can be entered here.

2. You MUST follow me for updates and information on the contest.

3. You MUST follow the judge of your designated category. After all, they have to work very hard to do their jobs and they deserve to get something back from it. (If you do NOT follow them or me you will lose points in judging or not be allowed entry to the contest. There were quite a few good stories that lost last contest due to this tiny little rule.)

4. You MUST add the hashtag #WatermelonWavesContest onto the tags of the story entered.

5. You MUST add this story to a reading list to keep up with it.

6. The story entered MUST be at least 5 chapters or more, exceptions are those with stories that are over 10k words total and people entering into the short stories category.

7. You can enter up to FOUR stories in total but they MUST be in all different categories.

8. If there is any rape/non-con in the story being entered if there's not a warning of it anywhere in the story you MUST let your judge know about it, if you do not you will have points docked. (This is for our judges mental safety since many of them can be triggered by these things.)
