As many great things in life begin, the idea for this book was born after hyper focusing yet again on Pride and Prejudice (2005) in February of 2021. I always have been fascinated by Mr. Darcy's character, relating to him in some ways and having theories about his personality, which helped to create the character and overall, the story you just read. This embodies rawness, our insecurities and self-doubt, mental health issues that (worryingly) a lot of us can identify with, grief, and love in different hues.
What I adore about the Regency Era is that it's not only my desire of escapism or an attempt to romanticise the past, but in addition to that, one can realise the dreams and problems of the people back then are valid in our present. There's still an enormous weight on doing whatever we can to fit society, no matter the cost, whether it's happiness, wealth, mental stability, etc. I hope this book, and its characters, serve as comfort when needed.
