Ch. 6 Hexside - Part 1

31 Years Ago...

The first day of the new school year. Most teenagers would dread it but that is not the case for 14 year old Catherine. The young girl was excited to get to school, having skipped a couple grades and now being put at the same level as her brother. She was excited to learn everything she could with the illusion track. Who knows maybe even more.

Alador was proud of his baby sister, it's not everyday a witch is able to be pushed up a couple grades and get to graduate with their sibling. Now the Blight Siblings can be in classes together, sports together, chose a coven together, and graduate together.

The Blight siblings parents, Garret and Beatrix.

Garret Blight is a stern man. He is part of the abomination coven, not head but high ranking. He always drives for the family and himself to be perfect, most witches are afraid of him because of the power and riches he holds being a Blight. He strives to make his children work hard so that they will be ready for the world so that it doesn't tear them down.

Everybody knows where Alador gets his looks from, the brown hair, slightly hooked nose and golden eyes. He definitely is his father's son.

Beatrix Blight is a firm woman. Like her husband she part of the abomination coven. She is a stubborn woman to get along with at times, will stop at nothing to get what she wants and is most often oblivious towards people's feelings. One thing was certain though, she may not show much affection but she does care for her children very much.

Catherine takes more after her mother, curly brown hair, her pale sand skin but unlike her parents and brother, she has bright blue eyes instead of yellow. Yellow eyes were common thing in the Blight family, not blue.

The Blight siblings made their way towards the first class of the day, which they happen to have together, History of the Boiling Isles.

When they made their way into the classroom with their fellow classmates they find that the teacher has put them all in assigned seating arrangements and sadly Alador and Catherine could not sit next to eachother.

Both begrudgingly made their way to their seats, disappointed in the fact they can't do anything about it. Alador sat in the front row while Catherine sat a few rows back.

Within two minutes just as the first bell screamed a girl with wild orange hair sat down next to Catherine.

"Hey there."

Catherine looked over and was surprised to see that the girl was talking to her.

"O-oh! Um hey me?" Catherine asked clearly confused and startled a bit.

"Well who else would I be talking too?" The girl said with a smirk. "So you new here or something?"

"No. I was moved up a couple grades."

"Really? Me too actually."

Catherine looked at the girl with wide eyes before smiling. "Wow! Seriously?"

"Seriously." The girl holds out her hand for Catherine. "The name's Edalyn Clawthorne, Eda for short. Who are you?"

Catherine took Eda's hand and shook it gently. "Catherine Blight."

"You're a Blight?!" Eda said, surprised. "Huh...You know you're not as stuck up and fancy like I thought you Blights would be."

"Hehehe. Those would be my parents you're thinking off. They can be stuck up most of the time." Catherine said.

The two spent the next few minutes talking. Catherine explained that she had skipped a couple grades due to her magic being pretty strong, her grades were good and that her parents felt she needed more advanced classes.
