Before heading to school, I decided to stop by Dre's apartment since Auntie had to leave for work. As I entered, I found Dre engrossed in practicing karate moves while narrating the events happening on TV.

"It's not going to work out," I remarked casually, noticing his jacket strewn across the floor. "Dre, pick up your jacket before Auntie sees it," I added, plopping down on the couch.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and I opened it to find Mr. Han, the friendly maintenance man. "Good morning, Mr. Han," I greeted him with a smile, to which he nodded in acknowledgment.

"Morning. Came to fix the hot water," he explained, pointing towards the bathroom.

Dre glanced at him briefly before continuing his karate moves, mimicking the actions he saw on TV. Lost in his own world, he seemed oblivious to Mr. Han's presence.

While observing Dre's antics, I overheard Mr. Han say, "Kid." I looked at him, thinking he was calling me, but he shook his head and pointed towards Dre.

"Kid," he called out again, but Dre remained oblivious. Taking matters into my own hands, I lightly kicked Dre's knee and said, "Mr. Han is calling for you." However, Dre still seemed unaware of the situation.

It was only when Dre yelped in pain and looked down to see a toothpaste cap at his feet that he realized what had happened. He looked at Mr. Han in disbelief and asked, "Did you just hit me with a toothpaste cap?" I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the absurdity of the situation.

Mr. Han calmly replied, "Hot water is fine. Flip the switch and wait for an hour, then flip it back." I stifled a yawn, finding the conversation somewhat mundane.

"Why don't you just leave it on?" Dre questioned, prompting Mr. Han to give him a thoughtful look. "Save the planet, kid. Get the switch," he responded, emphasizing the importance of conserving energy.

Just then, Aunt Sherry entered the house, carrying grocery bags. Noticing Dre's black eye, she raised an eyebrow and inquired, "What happened to your eye?"

Thinking quickly on his feet, Dre lied, "I ran into a pole." I couldn't help but chuckle at his creative explanation.

"An interesting pole, indeed," I quipped, joining the conversation. Sensing Aunt Sherry's weariness, I offered to help with the grocery bags. "Thanks, [Name]," she cheerfully replied, and I nodded in response.

As Aunt Sherry glanced around the room, her eyes landed on Dre's jacket, prompting her to exclaim, "Dre, for the thousandth time, pick up your jacket!"

Dre stood in front of the TV, momentarily distracted. "Just a second, Mom," he replied, causing Aunt Sherry to raise an eyebrow. "How many times do I have to tell you?" she asked sternly.

"Once," Dre responded sheepishly, finally relenting and picking up his jacket.

Meanwhile, Mr. Han's gaze remained fixated on Dre, silently conveying his expectation for him to take responsibility for his actions.
