ADAMAWA STATE, NIGERIA.

Teems blinked open her eyes at the feel of someone touching her hand, she furrowed her brows seeing the white ceiling and lights that is totally not the type in her room or Layla's. She is not at home but where the hell is she and who is touching her hand like that? Looking down at her hand, she beheld the sight of a man's hand and move with a start. What? She looked up at the hand to the owner.

Faizan is sitting there on the bed, his body a bit back in shape and not fever stricken anymore. She couldn't bring herself to smile realizing that she has slept in his room when she tended to him earlier and the worst part is, she hasn't slept like this in a while. The exhaustion and fatigue is all over her that she abandoned herself and fell asleep at the wrong place. And she does not sleep in a pretty way.

"Hey." He murmured in a deep low voice, she wouldn't have heard what he's said had she not looked up at that time to see his mouth moving.

Blinking away the haziness still clouding her eyes, she answered. "Hi. How are you feeling now?" Anything to get the attention off of her.

"I'm much better and thanks to you. They've been trying for ages but nothing has worked." He flexed his fine leg to show her just how much better he is but his other leg is still in a cast, so not that bad.

Teems smiled and stood up, she is freaking hungry. "I just thought I should come check up on you. How long was I out?"

"That's a great thing to do. And I really don't know since I woke up just an hour ago. Your friend said you should wait for her that she is going to get us some food." He explained, playing with the bedsheet beneath his lean bruised fingers. Soldiers are really used to all this sort of shit.

Layla went to get them food and didn't bother waking her up on that uncomfortable plastic chair? Maybe she also thought she needed that sleep because she's been deprived of it for a long time. She only sleeps for one to two hours before she wakes up with a start, thinking back to what has happened in hopes she is having a nightmare but reality will hit her hard.

"I'm sorry for your lost." Her smile became shaky, all the former energy within her annihilated with the mention of their lost when she has also lost him in her own way.

Faizan looked at her straight in the eyes, his eyes the blackest onyx you'd ever see. He didn't blink neither is there any emotion in their depths, so blank unlike Kareem's lively ones and Qadir's mischievous ones. That is why she has never been close to him, he is someone that shut himself off whenever he feels like and only go with the flow when he is around people he is comfortable with.

And right now all she wants to do is bolt away from the room to escape his intense eyes. When she thought he was not going to reply her condolences, he answered. "And I'm sorry for yours too. He told us what has been brewing between you two."

Faizan on the other hand is weighing things out to see whether this is the right time to bring out what Kareem had said to him or not. Maybe he should wait until things calm down some more? But he doesn't have much time and if he is going to fulfill his mother's wish to get married as soon as possible then Teems have the right to know and make the decision herself. She should take her time. His mother is ever ready to get him married any moment.

Just because of this accident, she postponed it to another few months so he can convalesce and then they will have long ass conversation whether he's got someone or not. He is willing to sacrifice that part of him for Kareem's last wish and besides, he won't be able to have Na'ima and he's consoled his heart to let it go. Some things are just not meant to be but marrying her older sister?
