oh dear not again

POV Charlie

I shot up from the floor, my hands feeling around my chest where I was stabbed by Lilith. Not finding any marks not even on my clothes. "What....but....oh no," I laid back down. "I'm in the dream world again, aren't I?" I asked 

"Nope," Misaki replied seriously. "You died."

"Oh no it's you again," I said just looking up.

Misaki shrugged. "Look," she said. "I'm not happy to see you either."

I sat up. "No, Sorry, just having a rough day," 

"I can tell," Misaki said, the small girl raising an eyebrow.

"I...uh...Had a run-in with Lilith, turns out... Well, that's not important, How about you? Are you okay?" I said standing up 

"Fought a bounty hunter," Misaki said. "Arrested him... the usual. Oh, and sabotaging the Terrayite Kingdom."

"I would say how you can choose another path, a better path, but I'm not really in the mood," I answered. the words echoed in my head again. 'YOU'RE ADOPTED!'

Misaki mumbled something under her breath.

I straightened up. "What was that?" I asked

"I'm doing it for them," Misaki said a little bit louder.

"I could name dictators that say the same, 'I'm not doing it for me, I'm doing it for them the power to make excuses is understated," I said putting my hands in my pockets searching for stuff seeing what I had on me still. 

Misaki held out a book... a notebook. 

"I'm no leader, Charlie..." Misaki said. "But maybe I should show you."

I looked at the notebook, bringing my sonic out of my pocket. "Would you mind if," I pointed at the sonic first.

Misaki gave him a suspicious look. "As long as you don't use it," she replied, before chanting a spell in her book.

"Simple scan is all, nothing that will hurt, hopefully," I said, I smiled at her. "I don't want to hurt you, or anyone," 

Misaki sighed, stopping her spell. "Fine," she said. "But the fate of Ember's universe lies on the pages of this notebook."

I scanned the book, the sonic making its normal high-pitched sounds. "Huh, interesting," I mumbled checking the readings. 

"So what brilliant knowledge have you figured out this time?" Misaki asked.

"Nothing, the screwdriver isn't working," I answered. "Bit of an anti-climax," I said disappointed 

"Can I show you something?" Misaki asked. 

"It....it depends, Misaki, I...just do it," I answered 

Misaki nodded and a portal appeared above them, pulling both of them towards it.

"Brace yourself," Misaki whispered.

"Misaki I'm sorry if I've been rude," I said before going through

Misaki looked away, as the portal sent them to Ember's universe

The sky was grey and foggy, and the Terrayite Kingdom was almost in ruins.

I stared. "This...this is horrible,"

Misaki looked down and swallowed. "Charlie," she warned. "Don't look down."

I took a deep breath. "Okay," I said looking up. I could hear her moving something, it wasn't hard to guess what. 

"Misaki, it wouldn't take Sherlock to tell why you don't want me to see, who's body is it?" I asked
