Ring the Bell

There are no certainties,
but I thought my liberties
would always be there for me.
Easy choices to make
when there were many options
to take now slip away.

Crippling generations and
hoping suppressing frustrations
into who is and isn't crying
for life will cause a resurrection
and absolve the destruction
of the downtrodden and forgotten
cries of children who bled
on the school steps.

For every plot occupied,
they stood and prayed
yet drift away to scream and sway
away one's choice of control.

A bell rings and an angel
gets their wings.

Bells turn to requiem knells.
I am a shell, a vessel ready to
occupy space, though it be yours.
I'm ready to take my place.
Are you?
