Formed in 1891, as Blue Island Lines by a small team of British investors, there goal was to form a small cruise and shipping company composed of only a few ships, and able to operate ships at a low cost and with travel tickets costing as low as possible.

The first ship in the lines was the "RMS Blue" later renamed: "Blue One". Based on the Teutonic-class by White Star Line, the ship was their first ship in their fleet and is one of the smallest in the fleets history.

The Ship was launched in 1892, on July 18, and was later delivered to London, it made it's first voyage in September that year, from London to Dublin and was a big success.

Due to the low costing tickets, the company quickly gained a reputation for its cheap but yet peaceful trips, and soon the company ordered 3 more Teutonic-class ships, all named Blue Two, Blue Three, and Blue Four. This would later be known as the Blue Four.

The Blue Four continued to travel and help transport passenger from Europe to the United States, while they did cause some accidents along the way, but they continued up until 1928.

1890's to 1920's:

Blue Four Ramming Accident: 1899

On the Morning of March 8, 1899, Blue Four was making a return trip to Southampton after a trip to New York City, due to the intense fog surrounding the island it was hard to navigate, but thanks to a light house it was easier to find a way through, but they ended up crashing onto a set of large rocks and jamming itself onto them.

The rescue plan had all passenger evacuate with half of the crew, and the remaining team stayed to investigate the damage

As the 1920's rolled in the Line quickly grew, and the board had decided to retired the Blue Four and go with some new modern vessels to help generated new income.

The first two new ships in the fleet were, the "Blue Ocean" and "Green Ocean".

These ships were both ordered and constructed in Belfast, by Harland and Wolff and both launched on March 9th, 1928.

Both ships launched a new start for Blue Island due to their faster and more advanced designs they generate more interest and increased the Lines profit heavily.
