Chapter 21: Contact

~To The Story~

Nakamura was careful as she brushed Okuda's purple locks. At first, the blonde had plans to give the science lover a whole new makeover, however, the latter felt uncomfortable, thus Nakamura just settled for brushing her hair and smoothing it out.

She's been wondering what the shy girl looks like without her signature braided hair.

"... All done." Nakamura backed away to gaze over her work.

For Okuda to check it out herself, the blonde grabbed a handheld mirror and gave it to her. The bespectacled girl looked at her reflection and ran her fingers through her loose locks.

"I like it," Okuda meekly admits, smiling at Nakamura.

Nakamura grinned, chest filled with pride.

"(Y/n)-chan," she called you over, making sure to wave in order to get your attention. "Let me do your hair."

Seeing Nakamura signalling you to come over, you guessed that she wanted to work on your hair. Obliging, you scooted out of your space and plopped right on her futon all in the while Kayano went to check out Okuda's hair. She gushed about it and even suggested that she should let her hair down more often.

"You should go to the summer festival with your hair like that."

Okuda blushed. "I'm not going and I think I'll stick to my braided hair. Are you going to the festival, Nakamura?"

"Hm? Oh no." Nakamura said while being able to focus on your hair. "My brother is coming home and my folks want to spend some time as a family." She sighed loudly with boredom.

Okuda and Kayano made sure to throw a sympathetic smiles.

"You going to the festival?" Kayano asked you, signing.

You made sure to not bob your head so you signed, "yes. With Nagisa."

Kayano gave you a puzzled stare. She assumed you would be going with Karma.

"Um." Kayano had to remember which signs to use in order to translate the sentence she wants to ask. She fidgeted her fingers for a few more seconds before moving them again. "Are you going to ask Karma-kun?"

Kayano asked out loud as well so the two other teenagers heard her and they immediately grew invested.

The fun you were having in this sleepover quickly washed away as soon as Kayano brought up Karma. You were silent and couldn't even look in anyone's eyes.

Your response; was a shrug.

"Huh?"

You looked down at your lap, feeling their confused gaze on you, before glancing at each other for an explanation. Unfortunately, none of them can provide any answers.

When you finally tilted your head up, the other three were surprised to see your lips wobbling. For Nagisa, you tried to put on a strong face for him but now that he isn't around, you let your emotions show.

The three girls grew panicked and concerned when you began to cry. The three of them began to talk all at once so you couldn't understand exactly what they were saying. But you basically understand the main question, which is; why are you crying?
