12. i saved you

"rafe! you fucking psycho! you-you- you just killed someone!" i say.

"what- k-kaylen.. i- i saved you!" he says.

tears start streaming down all of our faces.

"w-we need to get the fuck out of here!" topper says.

"what about the body, topper?!" i yell.

"fuck" he whispers. "lets put it in the water" i whisper, ashamed of my words.

we all lift it, and throw it in, hoping some alligators will eat it.

we are all out of breath, and covered in blood.

we jump in the truck, topper drives while me and rafe sit in to the back seat.

its clear rafe is very upset and needs comfort, so i hold him, tightly.

we both shed some tears, no one talks about what just happened.

we all just had this silent conversation not to talk about it.

"i saved you kaylen. right? tell me i saved you  please" he says in a broken voice.

"mhm. yes rafe, you saved me" i whisper, stroking his head. "yeah. yeah i did" he whispers, trying to reassure himself more than reassuring me.

"i love you kay. i dont want you to ever leave me, please, kaylen i love you" he says. "shh, baby i love you to! why would i leave you?" i ask.

"i just killed someone" he says. "to save me" i say.

"jesus christ" topper says.

rafe presses his lips to my forehead, leaving me a kiss.

we finally reached my house.

it was around 3am.

we all took showers and me and rafe were laying in my bed.

"can i sleep in here? im to scared to sleep alone" topper shyly says.

i nod, me and rafe move over for him and he climbs in.

"can we talk about it?" i ask. "id rather we never talk about it again, i was just protecting you from that pedo, now lets forget about it" rafe says, his eyes were still red and puffy from crying.

"i agree with rafe, i dont wanna talk about it ever again" topper says. "okay. okay." i say.

"wheres the gun that you used?" i ask. "i-in my car" he says. "thank god" topper says.

we play some comedy on the tv and go to sleep.
