Chapter XVIII

Alexa's POV:

After Liam left, I dressed into my pyjamas and tried to sleep but thoughts of Liam marking me swirled in my head. I decided to get up and get something to eat. I walked down the hallway. It was quiet and made me feel uncomfortable. I heard laughter coming down from the end of the hall and I saw 2 younger girls running to me.

I stopped and watched as they approached me. I smiled at how nice they were to each other and realised that I've seen them before. It's Kira and Tammy. They both ran up to me and hugged me. I bent down and hugged them back, having a warm, fuzzy feeling in my stomach.

"Hey," I said, and Kira sat on the floor.

"Hello, Lexa," Tammy said. I smiled at the nickname and Tammy covered her mouth with her hand. "Ops. I mean Alex," Tammy said.

"It's okay. Just call me Lexa," I said. I smiled at Tammy and she hugged me again.

"Tammy! Kira!" Someone called from down the hall. Tammy got a worried look on her face, just like last time.

"I need to go. Kira, come on," Tammy said while taking Kira's hand and walking down the hall from where they came from. I wondered who would be so bad that Tammy would worry when talking to me. I shrugged off the curiousness and tried to not let it overtake me and run my life. I walked away, in search of the kitchen.

When I got there, I walked up to the fridge and looked in it. After a debate on whether a cheese toasty would be better than fairy bread, I decided to eat some fairy bread. I made the fairy bread and put it on a plate but just as I went to take a bite, a person ran in and fell on the floor crying. I looked at the person and realised that it was Lilly. I crouched down beside her and hugged her. She looked up at me and frowned but when she saw it was me, she smiled.

"I'm so happy to- to see you," Lilly cried. I gave her a sad smile but wondered why she was so upset.

"What's wrong?" I asked her and her face dropped.

"Cody found his mate," Lilly said. I smiled happily, not realising that that mean Cody wouldn't be with Lilly.

"That's great!" I replied happily. Lilly nodded but dropped her head into her hands.

"Yeah, for him," Lilly said. Realisation hit me as I scrunched my face at the mistake I made.

"Lilly, you knew this was coming. Why can't you be happy for him?" I asked while frowning. This was a dangerous path that Lilly was about to follow Emma down. I figured if I could stop her from making the same mistakes Emma made, all would be well again.

"Because Cody's mine!" Lilly cried loudly. Panic arose in me at her words and I felt a little angry.

"Lilly! Don't say stuff like that! Emma said the exact same thing and look at where that got her!" I said in a high-pitched tone. Lilly wiped her nose with her sleeve, looking up at me.

"Yeah. You're right. Sorry. I'm going to be happy for him. Besides, I'll meet my mate soon anyway," Lilly said, calming herself down.

"Yeah! That's the spirit!" I said happily as Lilly giggled, wiping a tear away.

"You know, you aren't half bad," Lilly said. I nodded while taking a bite of a piece of fairy bread.

"Mm. I'll take that. Want one?" I asked as I shoved a piece of fairy bread in her face. Lilly nodded and laughed.

"Sure," Lilly said while taking it and eating it. For the rest of the afternoon, Lilly and I gossiped, laughed, cried and ate fairy bread. We became the best of friends and decided not to let anything come between our friendships. I went back to my room at twelve forty-four am but decided to take the relationship between Liam and I a little further. I walked into Liam's room, to see Liam sound asleep in his bed.

I smiled at the sight and climbed into the bed. I rolled so I was sleeping on my right side and soon, felt Liam's arms pull me to him. I cuddled close to his body as a smile creeped up on my face. I closed my eyes and let sleep overtake me, feeling safe and secure in his arms.
