MY BIRTHDAY is my favorite holiday. august 17— i mark my calendars, i remind everyone months in advance, i work on birthday lists for the next birthday the second after my birthday is over. some might argue that my birthday isn't a holiday, but to my family, to my friends... it is. this year, it's even more special, because it's my golden birthday.
i sat in iris' office, burning a cd. although, most of the time i listen to music on my phone, i still like to listen to cds from time to time. every year since i was 11, i've been making cds for my birthday party. this year, sydney, shayla, and belly are planning me something.
i glance over at my phone screen, a text from conrad greeting me. i smile and reach for my phone.

JULIANNA sydney is planning something like a surprise so idk where i'll be, but if u ask me later or ask belly she'll tell u where we'll be, and u can stop by then.
i set my phone back down on the desk and waited for the cd to finish. i ripped off a piece of notebook paper and made a list of all the songs on it; 17 songs for my 17th birthday.
my new blonde hair rested on my shoulders, i carefully picked up the cd. i added puffy stickers and wrote with sharpie JULIE'S 17TH BIRTHDAY PLAYLIST. i put it into a cd case and smiled. today would be perfect. it has to be.
