*Buzz... Buzz...*
Jihoon's attention was taken away from his chart when he felt his phone vibrated inside his scrub's pocket. He was heading out for his last rounds for his night shift, but his phone kept on buzzing since an hour ago. If only he wasn't too busy to disregard it inside his locker, he already did. But the trip from the nurse's station to where his assigned ward was would take his precious time. Halting on his tracks after seeing the brightness of the morning sunlight from the outside of the hospital window, he fished out his phone and the notifications immediately made his forehead creased.
3 missed calls : from Yujin's Sunbae
12 kakao messages : from Yujin's Sunbae
2 messages : from Junkyu
He opened Junkyu's messages first after unlocking his phone.
Junkyu:
Jihoon-ah!
I'll be staying out again tonight. Haruto wants me to sleep over. Call me if you need me, ok?
Jihoon subtly scoffed at the second message from his best friend. "Looks like you really don't need me now, do you?"
The smile on his face slowly faded and was replaced with a confused expression when he opened his KKT app and read the messages. Those were all from Hyunsuk. He casually scrolled on his screen and just skimmed through the panels just basically asking him what time his shift ends, and he wanted to grab some breakfast before he goes home. It looked like they were already so close by how friendly Hyunsuk was every time he texts him, but Jihoon still felt a little awkward.
Before they parted ways last time, eating in a nearby café from the University block, Jihoon was a bit surprised when Hyunsuk asked for his number and immediately added him in Kakao as well. He didn't want to be rude, so he just gave Hyunsuk his number without much thought to it. After all, he is Yujin's sunbae, hence the name saved on his phone.
He typed a simple reply saying he didn't want to trouble Hyunsuk and that he'll just grab his breakfast on his way home. After sending his message, he proceeded to check on the ward to finally finish his shift.
It only took him an hour before he endorsed the charts back to the nurse's station. Jihoon was stretching his arms and back from the exhaustion when he saw Yedam clock in for work. The junior enthusiastically winged his arm around Jihoon before massaging his shoulders.
"Rough night?"
Jihoon smirked at him. "You should do this every day, clocking in for work 15 minutes before your shift so I can do some stretching like this."
"I don't live in a walking-distance apartment like you, Sunbae. At least I'm giving you free massage."
Yedam's chuckle made Jihoon hiss at him before saying goodbye, ready to go home after changing his clothes.
As his constant dilemma, Jihoon was thinking what food to grab for breakfast on his way home as he made his way out of the hospital. But he only had a couple of steps out of the sliding door when someone jumped in front of him with a bright smile on his face. Jihoon wasn't the type of person that can easily be jump scared, but he wasn't expecting the familiar man in front of him.
"Shit!"
Hyunsuk laughed hearing Jihoon cursed in his breath while momentarily shutting his eyes close.
"H-Hyunsuk-shi. You scared me. What brings you here?" Jihoon tried to calm down.
"Sorry, I was already here when I got your reply. I'm glad I waited a little more."
