The Third Gate

"Go where" I stupidly asked, I knew full well where we had to go but I didn't want to believe it, all I wanted was to leave and take Jasmine with me, maybe she could live in England or I could live in America, we would be happy, live together maybe,  damn I think I'm thinking way too far into the future we might end up dead or worse stuck here forever. "The third gate, we need to hurry" she now had her hand firmly on her hips looking at me in a pissed off way. She looked quite hot, sexy like that but I didn't want to anger her more she might turn psycho marine on me. "Okay Sampson you coming" I stood up looking at Sampson waiting for an answer, he wasn't a bad guy he was just a respected solider wanting to save the world or wanting me to save the world, wanting to guide me through the right path. He was still on the floor and didn't answer, he must have been in his own little world because when I said his name he just looked up, I asked him once again. "Are you coming with us?" this time he did stand up with his arms by his side, I never realized how tall he was, next to me he looked like a mountain toppling over the rain forest, It made me a bit nervous, even on my tiptoes I looked like an ant. "No Alex you must go alone, this is your destiny" I still hated how he talked in riddles I mean yeah he was born centuries before me but that's no excuse. I shrugged my shoulders showing him that it was up to him what he does Jasmine was the one that was concerned "Are you sure I mean I know you asked me to get food but I still think it's safer for you to come with us" I couldn't believe what she was saying and this was not my jealousy speaking, the bloke killed that beast thing in one strike I think he was capable of looking after himself, "I think he's okay but we need to go" I told her while holding her arm to pull her out but she just resisted and pulled back her arm "How can you say that he is human now you know" she now put her arms to the side of her as she snapped at me "So if he was still my dog you wouldn't of cared?"

"Don't twist my words" she pointed a skinny finger at me as she spoke more sharply than loud "Look he is fine plus the bloke has got muscle on muscle not to mention that he just killed that thing with one swift" I could see that Sampson was now next to me putting a hand between us. "I'll be okay no creature can come into this place accept the knight but you killed him so I'll be fine" he then removed his hands and went over to the food and grabbed some bread and ate it, "We really need to go" I pressed on, looking at Jasmine and now holding her side, "Before you go, it would be wise to take these" Sampson said as he handed us two big coats, one was white and one was black, they were thick with wool at the top circling around the neck, they reminded me of the coats they wore in Alaska to fight the freezing cold atmosphere. "What do we need these for?" I asked as I grabbed my black one while Jasmine grabbed her white one. "That is not for me to say now you best go" Sampson told us as he went back to his dry bread. "Well we best go" I told Jasmine as I put my arms back by my side, she nodded in agreement and we both walked out not looking back at Sampson, we left him with his food as we started towards the third gate. We both stood there staring at the open bronze gate, now with our new coats to keep us warm from wherever we were going.

"What do you think is behind there?" It seemed Jasmine had calmed down as she wrapped her arms around herself, looking slyly at me. I knew she could feel the cold breeze that I felt, it was also obvious that it was not Spain behind that door, "Obviously somewhere cold but if you're asking about creatures then I don't want to know" I responded. I started to walk towards the gate holding Jasmine's hand, I could feel her shaking not knowing whether it was from fright or the cold but for me it was the cold. I have never seemed to handle the cold even now I hate the winter just because of the snow, the soggy socks when you enter the house, the snowballs that seemed to be chucked at you when you tell them that you don't want to get involved or even the snow falling down your back which makes you shudder and makes your nipples stand out. So far I could not see anything not even a hint of light until I heard the screams Jasmine jumped out of shock "Are we here?" she asked in a trembled voice. I didn't say anything I just slowly walked forward which was when I saw the hint of light, I could also see the snow falling creating more snow on the floor it must have been two foot of snow out there, which was when I was thankful of living in England it's not even half a foot usually just rain which I did not mind but snow I hated and then I realized this was going to be the worst so far.
