Deal

Isabell just finished getting ready running downstairs into the kitchen she grabbed an apple as she ran out

"Bye dad!" she managed to yell before closing the door "Hey Steve" she greeted as she opened his car's door

"Hey so you going trick or treating tonight?" he asked when they heard another car beside them

"Nuh-uh, I'll drop her today" they heard Martin's voice Belly tried to hide her smile she gave Steve a smile before stepping inside her father's car

She suddenly realised what it was about, her father never drives her to school but today he was that could only mean one thing

"Dad, don't tell me" she looked at the older guy who had his eyes on the road while he drove

"Tell you what?" he asked as if he didn't know anything

"You're driving me to school? Are you going on a business trip again?" she asked her voice a little higher

"Yeah" he spoke in a low voice

"But it's Halloween!" she yelled "You are supposed to be here atleast for Halloween!" she let her anger out

"I know, I am sorry" they stayed silent for the rest of the ride until they reached Hawkins middle school, a couple of minutes passed and Belly was still seated there with her arms crossed over her chest "We're here"

"I am sorry" she said he looked at her "I yelled, I am sorry"

"It's okay sweetheart" he made her turn towards him "I know you're angry but how about this, I promise I'll be here for Christmas?"

"Christmas? It's like 2 months away? Are you indirectly telling me you'll be away for 2 months?" she asked

"Maybe, I'll try my best to be back as soon as possible and" he put his fingers on his chin thinking "How about I get you a walkman? We have a deal?" this made Belly's eyes light up

"Really?" she asked he nodded "Alright then, deal" she walked out of the car

"Hey hey" she heard her dad making her turn around "Where's my hug?" she chuckled going closer to him and hugging him tight "Have fun kiddo"

Walking inside the school she saw a redhead by the lockers and Dustin and Lucas staring at her from far in their weird costumes she took this moment to approach the girl

"Morning Max" she greeted she looked over and saw Lucas and Dustin's faces go dull

"Morning, Isabell" she greeted back closing her locker, Belly leaned on the one she was standing next to

"Belly, it's what everyone calls me" she said the girl, Belly nodded to herself gathering the courage  "So it's trick or treat, wanna go Halloween?" she paused "No wait, it's supposed to be the other way around" Max chuckled at that "You got the point"

"Yeah I got the point" Belly looked around

"You can take time, you don't have to come, if you don't want to, although I'll be alone of you don't show up" she mentioned looking down like a lost puppy "And it's almost time for my Curiosity Voyage" she held up her wrist they both smiled "See you later?"

"See you later" Belly walked into her class on the way she saw the two guys

"Looking fabulous guys" she said sarcastically walking inside her Russian class

She had no interest in studying whatsoever, she was just here because she'd rather be at school and get a chance to see Max, or be bored home alone

She didn't know what it was but she wanted the girl close to her, if not close she was just happy seeing Max, she had many female friends but with Max it was different, she didn't know how, just different it felt different

The class ended and now here she was with Olivia and Carol by the lockers, she didn't really like any of them she was just there because she didn't want them gossiping about her

"And that reminds me, what were you doing with the redhead earlier?" Carol asked, Belly's head snapped at her

"I was just uh planning to prank her, I asked her to trick or treat with me which I am obviously not gonna go to" she lied making the two girls smile

"Oh my god, plus she's new, we could get a camera and we could record it and-" Olivia trailed off

"Yeah that won't be necessary, she ain't going either" Belly lied again, in an attempt to shut them up "Let's go to the cafeteria I am kinda hungry" she pulled them all away as soon as she saw Max in the hallway

The school was now over and Belly was walking out alone when she saw Max headed towards a blue Camaro with a guy, she knew was Billy Hargrove

"Hey Max! Wait up!" She jogged as soon as Max stopped in her tracks

"What do you want Belly" Max asked making Belly's eyebrows furrow in confusion

"I just wanted to ask if you made up your mind about the trick or treating offer" Belly gave her a hopeful look

"Why would you care, you're not going anyway, it was a prank right?" And then it hit her, the conversation she had with Olivia and Carol she sighed

"Who told you this?" She asked in a low comforting voice

"Lucas overheard you and your popular friends talking" Max shrugged attempting to walk away when Belly suddenly grabbed arm turning her around

"Okay, whatever, it wasn't true, I am going trick or treating tonight, I just didn't want them to be bitchy about you, I didn't want them to gossip about us" she explained calmly Max just looked at her "Anyway, you coming?" She wiggled her eyebrows

"I'll think about it" she smiled as she went away, leaving a smiling Belly behind she looked around to see Billy's eyes glaring at her she looked around before looking right back into his eyes tilting her head to the side, the serious expression never left her face

They continued this, staring competition untill Billy went inside his car after Belly made her way towards Steve's when she saw him and Nancy, but it was different Nancy's face looked like she just cried and Steve was awfully silent, she figured the two would need a moment

"Hey Steve, I just came here to tell you I'll be skateboarding home" she reached towards the backseat of the car and took out her skateboard

"You sure, I could drop you" Steve said opening the door

"No, yeah, I am sure I just need to catch up with Lucas" and she walked towards the 3 guys biking home she thought she'd bring up the topic later

Now they were biking down the road while Belly was skateboarding next to them making small talks in between and suddenly the same blue Camaro was  behind them, getting closer and closer, it was just about hit them, which made Belly jump off her skateboard and onto the grass when she looked back she found her skateboard, broken
