I Almost Do

Chapter 4

"Train station?" I asked as we parked, he just nodded and got out of the car. I took the box that had the necklace and quickly followed him, since it was noon it was crowded adding to the fact I don't know here since it's the first time here I quickly lost sight of him

I looked around trying to look for him but since it was crowded I couldn't see much and just stood there looking in circle's until i felt a hand grab my wrist, I quickly turned to see who it was and i saw him. "Come here, Don't go too far or you'll get lost" he said as he held my hand as we started to walk out of the crowds

"Mom!" I heard him say, i was too busy trying to look at him I didn't realize we were already here, he let go of my hand and went to hug an older woman. She smiled at him and talked a bit before looking at me and smiled

I walked up to her and shook her hand "hello, I'm Celeste.. I'm.. uhmm" i looked over to him and realized I didn't know his name. "I'm.. His friend" i said as I smiled

She gently held my hand "Excuse Xaviers behavior, he still clearly doesn't know proper manners" she said "Mother!" He interrupted

"Xavier.. so that's his name" i thought to myself, a little girl came out from behind the Xaviers mother and quickly ran to His arms "how have you been?" He asked her yet she didn't answer and just continued to stare at me before hugging Him

He took a glance at me and looked back at the little girl "Don't be shy, She's.. uhmm" he paused for a moment and took a long stare at me "ahh he doesn't know my name either" I thought to myself

"Hello, I'm Celeste. Your older brothers friend" i said, she slowly let go of his brother and faced me "hi.. I'm.. Althea Vecente.. nice to meet you"

I quickly gave her the box with the necklace "Here, I heard it was your birthday the other day, belated Happy birthday" i said as i reached out the gift box

She hesitated as took the box when Xavier whispered in her ear "it's our gift to you, open it" he said, Her eyes widened and she quickly opened the box excitedly and saw the necklace "wow! It's so pretty!" She said as she tried to put it on

     "It suits you, you look very beautiful" i said making her smile even more "Thank you!" She said while giggling

A few minutes later Xaviers mother took altheas hand and looked at me then at her son "well we need to go now, the train is here" she said, they had a short conversation before the both of them said goodbye and boarded the train

     "So that's why you were in a hurry, because they were going to leave soon" i said as we walked back to the car, he just nodded

When we got to the car we just sat there for a minute "Celeste hm? That's your name?" He asked "yes, let me formally introduce myself. Hi! I am Celeste Dechaves" i said as I reached out my hand "hello i am Xavier Vecente" he answered as he shook my hand

"by the way, you didn't ask her if we were siblings or not. Why?" He asked as he started up the car "ohh.. Nothing, I could tell by your looks. You look similar yet she definitely looks better than you" i said to tease him but instead he just smiled at me and said "indeed she does"

He started driving out of the parking lot "Where do you want to go? Or do you want to go home?" He asked as we exited the parking lot

     "I actually haven't been to anywhere, I've only been here for 2 weeks" i said as i looked out of the window "TWO weeks?!" He asked in shock "yes" I answered. He went quiet for a few minutes and then said "ok, let's drive by some tourist locations before i drop you off, is that ok?" He asked "sure" I answered

A few minutes later we drove by a very big arch in the middle of the city, it was tall and had four pillars with arcs connecting them, It had beautifully intricate human statues on the front with smaller and smaller human or angelic designs as it got higher and higher of the tower

"That's arc de triomphe" he said as I stared at the towers "The Arc de Triomphe honors those who fought and died for France during the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces plus it's Over one hundred sixty feet high" he explained as we drove around it

I chuckled and looked at him "are you a tour guide?" He laughed before taking a glance at me "what a handsome tour guide you have" he said sarcastically that made the both of us laugh even more

"Well we'll just drive by one more place quickly before i take you home" he said as he looked back at the road, he sti had a smile on his face as he continued driving

We drove pass a bridge with a river that you could see the Eiffel tower from afar "this is the seine river, it's known to be a very beautiful river" he said "like you" he whispered "what was that?" I asked. He turned toward me and raised his eyebrows "what was what?" He asked. I stared at him for a few minutes "Nevermind" i said

"Where do you live or stay?" He asked, I thought for a moment if I should tell him or not "Le bristol hotel" i said, he nodded "A five star hotel hm.." he said before continuing to drive. After a few minutes we arrived at the hotel "thank you for driving me home" i said as i got out of the car "Wait!" He said before grabbing my arm

I stopped and looked at him "yes?" I asked, He pulled out his phone and handed it to me "give me your number, so we can talk about the payment regarding the necklace" he said, I lightly smiled before entering my number and giving his phone back to him

"well then, drive safe" i said before closing his cars door and entering the hotel
