I Almost Do

Chapter 9

"Here's your order ma'am, Enjoy!" I nodded as the waitress left after placing my order on my table

I just scrolled through my phone as i waited for Xavier to arrive.. i tried to remain as calm as i possibility could as several scenarios of what could possibly happen in a few minutes flashed in my head

"What have you gotten yourself into celeste?" i sighed to myself

The night before..

     " Hello? " His Deep yet soft tone answered the phone.. i could already feel my face start to get warmer

     "Hi.. Xavier? Uhmm, i just called to ask you.. are you free tomorrow?"

There was a brief moment of silence before he answered "Well.. For you i am, why'd you ask?"

I could feel my heart starting to beat faster..

If someone were to see me they'd say i've gone insane .. Walking around in circles in my living room for about an hour trying to find the right words and confidence to call him

     "Ohh, i was going to ask if we could meet tomorrow? Just to chat at a cafe or something" i felt my toes curl up as i sat on the couch

"Sure, what time?" He asked

"Whenever you're free"

There was again, a brief moment of silence before he answered "Hmm.. 1Pm at the Café where we went last time?"

"Café we went last time?.. the one we went to the day we met?" I asked

"Yes, that one" he said, it was faint but you could hear his little giggle after that

"Ok, I'll see you tomorrow.. Goodnight"

"Alright, see you tomorrow.. Goodnight and sweet dreams" he said before hanging up the phone

Present Time at the Cafe

"Hi!" I almost dropped my phone when i heard a deep, familiar voice behind me.

I slowly looked up to see him, it was Xavier.. he had a little grin on his face "have you been waiting for a while?" He asked

"Ahh no, i also just got here" i answered.

"Just got here yet already drank half of your coffee" he said before showing a playful smile

I reached down to side of my seat and handed him the small paper bag that I bought yesterday "here"

He raised his eyebrows and looked at the bag and then towards me with a surprised expression on his face "for.. me?" He asked confused while pointing at himself

He looked so cute like that, i wanted to take a picture to capture his expression "yes, it's for you.. who else?" I said whilst giggling

"Thank you?" He said as he took it, he slowly opened it and took out what was inside, he opened the small box the watch was in and once again had that cute surprised expression on his face

"I don't understand.. What is this for.. Exactly?.." he asked

"I just wanted to show my gratitude and appreciation for you showing me around Paris these past few days.. and i.. also wanted to.. tell you something" i said

He placed down the box and the watch and stared at me as i took a deep breath before speaking

"I know... Uhmm... I don't know how to say those words but I.. uhmm  To be honest, I'd like to spend more time with you, doing nonsense or kinds of stuff that has sense. Xavier ... I— I like you. A lot. And if it is possible that you will give me a chance to prove myself to you, I will do everything just to be with you."

I couldn't look at him straight after saying that, i could feel my whole face turn red and my hands form a fist until i heard him laugh a little

I swiftly raised my head to see what he was laughing at and saw him staring directly at me with a calm and sweet expression

He gently lifted his hand and and placed it on mine making me calm down a bit, he was still silent which made me understood what he wanted to convey

"Silence after a confession is a kind and thoughtful rejection" i thought to myself

"you don't have to prove yourself anymore. you effortless made me like you, and what you only need to do is to be with me." He said in his deep and serene voice

He gently lifted my hand and kissed the back of my palm as he also held on to my other hand and gently caressed it

     "I love you" i heard him whisper under his breath

     "I love you too" I answered
