It all started one morning. Everyone was down
stairs in the kitchen eating breakfast. Ponyboy was going down the stairs to join them when he came tumbling down with sickening thuds.
"What the-"
"Ow"
"Pony"
"Haha"
"Are you ok"
They all ran to the end of the stairs to see a battered ponyboy on the floor holding his wrist.
"I think I broke my wrist" meanwhile Dally is still laughing and Two-bit joins in. Pony glares at them.
"Come on let's get you to the hospital." Darry says.
"Ow." Pony whisperers.
"You ok, Pone?" Soda asks. "I'm fine." pony replies.
"Anything else hurt?" Johnny questions.
"Just my knees" pony claims
"Soda help him up I'll start the truck." Darry says.
They all headed to the hospital. Turns out Ponyboy broke his left wrist and skinned his knees.
"Ok ponyboy you're almost done. I just need to ask you a couple questions OK?" The doctor says
"Sure. "Pony replies
"Do you walk into things a lot?"
"Ya"
"Ok follow the light ok?"
"Ok."
"Ok now tell me when you can see my hands."
"Now"
"Ok, so based on my tests Ponyboy will need
glasses. He can't see on the sides of his eyes like we can. Say, if I put my hands at the side of my head and wave, I can see that, Ponyboy can not."
"Ok, thank you, doctor." Darry said
"Just doin' my Job. He'll get that cast off in the maximum of six months. But come back in four and we'll go from there." The Doctor informed Darry
(In the car)
"Ugggggh! I have to have this stupid cast on for six months and I have to have glasses? This suuucks" pony wined dramatically.
"Quit your whinin' Darry scolded
(After the eye appointment)
"I look stupid." Pony mumbled
"No you don't" Soda said
"Put them back on pony. You need them" Darry told him.
"I think you look like dad." Soda says
"Really?"
"Really" he confirmed
"Woah." Pony waved his hand next to his face.
"I can see that!"
"That's great pony."
"Ok let's go home." Darry said
(At home)
"Hey four eyes!" Two-bit laughed
"Shut up Two-bit!" Pony glared. He took off his
glasses and walked in his room.
"Really Two-bit?" Soda asked
"What?" Soda rolled his eyes. Soda walked upstairs to Pony's room. He knocked "Pony can I come in?" Soda asked gently
"No. Leave me alone." Pony said. Soda opened the door. Pony was on his bed looking at a photo. He looked up. "I told you to leave me alone. Can you leave, please?" Pony stated rather than asked.
"Ok but are you ok?"
"I'm fine."
"Ok. I'll be down stairs if ya need me."
"Ok soda" soda left and closed the door. Pony
looked at the photo in his hand. It was a picture of him and his dad. His dad was wearing glasses. He missed his mom and dad very much.
He slipped the picture back in the shoe box he put them in.He had a whole box filled with pictures of everyone and personal items, like the letter from Johnny in it.
He grabbed another and looked at that one. He was doing that for an hour before he heard a knock on the door.
"Hey Pone. It's me and Darry can we come in?"
"Yeah you can come in." Pony put the picture he was holding and put it in the box. He closed it and his brothers came in. He slid the box under his bed.
"What's up?"
"We just wanted to check on ya." Soda said
"You ok?" Darry asked
"I'm fine. Hey, is Two- bit here still?" Pony said,
changing the subject.
"Ya he's here. Why?"
"I wanted to see if he'd go with me to the movie theater." Pony sat up and began walking towards the door.
"Ponyboy hold on."
"Yeah?"
"What's that thing you put under your bed?"
"The box?" Darry nodded "oh that's just some
pictures. no big deal." Pony shrugged and left to go find Two-bit.
Meanwhile Darry and soda checked the box
because they knew it was a big deal. They looked in the box and found pictures of mom, dad, dally, Johnny, and the whole gang.
They saw Johnny's letter and read it. They saw dally's necklace. And they saw that this box was a big deal. They put the stuff back and the box under the bed. When they went to the living room they saw pony asking Two- bit to go to the movies.
"Come on Two-bit. What else you gotta do?"
"Hmm... Ok. Anyone else?"
"Yeah I'll go."
"Sure."
"Why not?"
They all went to the movies, even Darry.
