Chapter 6 New Magic

While Nick was knocked out the ship drifted out of the space-time rift then the crew came above deck and saw Nick and the Leviathan head they took Nick to the infirmary where April couldn't do anything "I use holy magic to heal but I can't do that on him because he's part of the demon race his body would reject it and self destruct" suddenly April's eyes turned solid blue with a single horizontal white line moving up and down like a scanner "well it seems that he's in good health just bashed bruised and soulless" suddenly everyone was paying full attention "S-Soulless?" Asked Jason "that's right no soul in there at all" suddenly she looked up and tapped James in between the eyes "ow that hurt" "do you see that purple pulsating thing," April asked "yeah it's back in space-time rift" "we'll that's Nicks soul do what you want with this info I'm going to go prepare for the trip a soul can only live without the body for three days and we've been drifting for two and a half that give us around twelve hours to get there get the soul and get back while there are things that can extend this time no one here can do that sort of thing" "what sort of thing," asked James "providing the host body with an aura that is romantically attracted him to latch onto" responded April everyone stared at Fushia "what" they kept staring "is it that obvious" "yeah," said James

Cut to last week

"Hey Fushia," said Nick "Hey Nick," Fushia said back "I got you this Coffee" "well thank you"

Cut to before the rift

"Everyone stays below deck if you look into a light rift you will go mad from seeing the past present and future all at once I'll be steering blind from up here I'll be relying on Nathan to extend his dangersense range and guide me through it" everyone agreed and went down except Fushia "please isn't there another way around this this" her face was red and something told Nick she wasn't storing fire so he pulled her into a hug and said "don't worry about me if I don't come back feel free to beat me to a pulp," Nick said Jokingly "hold this for me" he tossed his bandanna at her and closed the doors to the top deck Fushia turned around to see that everyone was watching what just happened

Cut back

"Fine I see your point I'll watch over the body" "good me James and Jason will go out and find the soul this extension only gives us an extra 8 hours so when shouldn't have to rush be we should still hurry Jason are the brooms ready" "they sure are" James April and Jason all got on a broom and Jason launched them forward they zoomed through the sky James told them what they would be doing "grab it and leave don't look into any light rifts got it?" "Yes Sir" after a couple of hours of flying they made it back they zoomed in with their blindfolds on James and April could still see the soul through them Jason was simply going where they said.

Back on the ship

Nathan was down in the training room trying to use his wind magic without almost dying. Up on deck Fushia was sitting down next to Nick's body he sat there mindlessly doing things with his hands "I guess you don't need a soul to fidget" she said suddenly she got a call "hey we got the soul but James was taken by some sort of rift he looks like he might be in excruciating pain so I'm gonna have Jason grab him with a broom and I guess we'll grab his soul as well" said April through the phone "well you might want to hurry you only have 4 hours left" "way ahead of you just get Nicks body to the medbay and have him strapped down this is gonna be painful for them"

When they got back they had James strapped down next to Nick and then April pulled out a jar with something purple inside it and opened it and the purple thing went into Nick's chest then a jar with gold was released into James's chest they both violently thrashed around while steam came from under their clothes from their internal body heat rising so quickly causing sweat to form then evaporate immediately soon the thrashing and steaming stopped and they both passed out

When Nick came to he was floating in some sort of liquid and he saw two other things in the liquid with him one of them looked like a mass of shadow and the other looked like Nick and was just a different age every time Nick blinked Nick drifted over to them "we are your abilities" they said together "Shadow" said the mass of shadows "and Time" said the Nick "you are prepared now your journey will start"

Nick awoke with a start and had the chills he looked over and saw James who had just gotten up like him "you saw it too right" "yeah unfortunately I did" they both got up and Nick called a meeting to the top deck "in short we are just getting started on hardships there's going to be a lot more and hopefully we'll all get stronger together" Nick then stretched out his hand and a glowing purple clock appeared "also I have power over Time now" "but that's not one of the Magic's we're told about so did you discover a new one" said Jason "I thinks it's more of an extension of Shadow my parents used to have this saying while Light transcends space Shadows are beyond Time they told me this whenever I tried to get rid of my shadow abilities because to be born as a race that most people not just look down on but despise and then having a magic that is meant to be something evil it was too much for a child so they made that up knowing that I was interested in the very concept of time" "well I guess it makes sense seeing as how I now can manipulate space" "well it would seem that we all obtained some sort of new ability recently like how now I can enhance my speed" said Nathan "also I did some research it turns out that once you get a second trait you get your racial magic all you'll eventually get all of the traits or variants of them setting only ever achieved by rulers and Kings" said Fushia "what have you done recently short ones" asked Nick both April and Jason tried to punch him but he was suddenly behind them "3 second time stop" he said "ugh fine we achieved something far beyond anything you older guys will even dream of" said Jason "get on with it" Jason and April gave each other a high-five and said "two become one cuz the fun isn't done and Playtime has just begun" April's eyes started flashing all of the colors while Jason's body flared up soon they were consumed by the flame and when it subsided all that was left was one person with a mop of curly silver hair tan skin a golden halo and flaming wings "this is Jasril the fused might of Jason and April" said the being Nick suddenly had a smirk on his face "ya know they say only people destined to be lovers can do this" he said mockingly Jasrils face turned red and one of its eyes turned pink the other was normal and brown and suddenly it burst into flames and they unfused and both tried to hit Nick again who once again appeared behind them before walking to his room it was around 30 seconds before the next emergency "Nick that crew hasn't eaten in actual days you need to do something" "Jason's first then James" said Nick "for what" asked Jason "to be eaten" "Nick we're not resorting to cannibalism" "but it's not cannibalism we're all different species" they all glared "fine be prepared to eat until you explode tonight" and with that Nick jumped off the side of the ship and into the water below

That night everyone sat around the table waiting for Nick who brought out trays of fish-based foods alongside some fruit juice he made from someone's garden he had looted "you wanted food fine here take it" he laid out plates and such and they started eating they kept eating and eating till there was nothing left it turned out that when he jumped overboard Nick had gone fishing and brought back all sorts of fish and made a meal out of them while also keeping some in a rather large tank the took up a wall in the kitchen for later use (with crustaceans along the bottom crawling around).
