The van came to a sharp halt as Murray parked us outside some sort of shed.

"If I get a whiff of any funny business, smuggler, I will not hesitate to kill you. In fact, I am just looking for a reason, understand?" Dmitri spoke to Yuri, who was unlocking the shed gate.

"Are you a parrot, cop? You keep repeating the same thing."

Yuri then looked at me and murmured,

"You were trapped in a cell with this dull man, and you didn't take the opportunity to smother him?"

I gave him a sour look as he continued to unlock the shed. After a few twists of the lock, he pushed the door open, revealing a small helicopter that looked like it struggled to hold two people; not to mention half the parts on it were broken.

"Beautiful, yes?" Yuri spoke

"You said you had a plane. A plane!" Joyce yelled at him, not hesitating to hit him with one of her gloves.

"No no no, I told you I could fly you home. And Katinka can fly you home, little bird. She was named Katinka after my first lover"

I had already decided I didn't want to listen to the rest of the conversation, so I decided to explore the area.

I walked over to a stack of boxes and peeled the tape off them. Inside were jars of peanut butter, American magazines, and cigarettes. I lifted one of the cigarette cases and gripped onto it as I found my way outside.

I reached into my pocket and found a lighter, praying it wasn't out of gas. I grinned as I watched a flame appear from it and light my cigarette.

"Didn't care to offer me any?" I heard a familiar voice next to me.

I passed the box of cigarettes and the lighter to him. He politely grabbed it a mumbled a short thankyou.

"You think we're gonna make it back to the US?" I asked him

"We'll make it back one way or another"

"I hope so, I'm starting to miss Hawkins; I just hope no one's gotten hurt while I've been gone."

"Were you close with anyone there?" He asked me

"I was close with a few of the older kids, and some co-workers. It's a pretty small town, I was either friends with you, or I didn't like you"

He laughed at my response.

"I think you would like Hawkins, it was a nice town before all this stuff started to happen. I wish I could show you all the cool carnivals they have there. I haven't been to one in ages."

"We could go to one when we get back. I heard you guys have big carnivals to celebrate the 4th of July" He added.

"It's a date"

Dmitri held the bright red telephone up to his ear, as an anxious Joyce stood next to me.

"I'd like to place a call to the United States. A very sick relative... Correct, yes, the number is-"

I watched Joyce signal numbers to him as he translated them into the phone. Dmitri then put down the telephone and looked back at us.

"What are you doing?" Joyce yelled at him

"How exactly do you think this works? They will make the call for us, and then they will call us back."

"How long is that gonna take?" Hopper questioned him

"Five minutes, five hours, five days, who knows? And when we do get the call, assume the KGB will be on the other line, listening to everything you say. So, I suggest talking in code. Say the wrong thing, and they will be on us like flies on shit"

"Welcome to the Soviet Union" Murray added.

-----

"These are the best sizes I could find," Hopper said, handing us bright yellow shirts he found in one of the boxes.

I grabbed a puffer jacket and two pairs of boots and handed it off to Joyce and Hopper as they each went to find a small room to change in.

I glanced over at Dmitri and gave him the same pieces of clothing I gave Hopper.

"I'm happy to wait for you to change, I can wait outside," He told me

"No it's fine, we're both adults." I told him, cutting him off.

I walked to the other side of the shed and started to change. As we were both mid-changing, I stumbled back as I slipped into a small puddle on the floor, and slipped, hitting my head on one of the shelves.

Lucky for me, I also made Dmitri fall over. I closed my eyes, hoping he was already changed. I opened my eyes cautiously. He wasn't.

I stared into his eyes as he leaned in slowly and pressed his lips against mine. I felt cold chills on my back.

I pulled away to catch my breath, quickly putting my lips back onto his.

"Oh," I heard a familiar voice say.

I lifted my head and saw both Hopper and Joyce staring directly at us. Dmitri and I still weren't changed, and he was still laying on top of me.

Our awkwardness was interrupted when the phone started to ring. Hopper rushed towards it, picking it up.

"Remember! They're listening!"
