"That'll be $15.75"

You looked at the older lady who was buying a Bop Magazine that was featuring Johnny Depp and Corey Haims

She gave you the exact amount and left out

Your parents owned a library, attached to it was their other store where you sold magazines, books and other things.

Essentially you got more of the young women who were looking for romance novels or whoever was in teen beat

This was the job lined up for you since the mention of not going to college after graduation

The store closes at 8:00 pm every night, you also averaged about 15 customers a day. Which is where you met your mark for the night

You began to turn on some music in the shop and browse around and tidy up

You went over to the section no one ever goes where you had your comics that you collected , along with vinyls . I guess you understood why it's the least visited section. You didn't sell whatever was vintage, instead you created this own room with a lounge area where they can put on a record and read.

As you began to look around, you heard the bell go
Off from the store door

You noticed a boy going through the news papers flipping to a specific page where the daily comics and jokes were

"Hey, how can I help you"

You sat behind the desk picking up the tip gar and taking out the trash left from the not so funny 13 year old boys from yesterday

"Yeah, do you have any comics?"  The boy turned to you and studied your face for a moment before giving a small smile

It was Kirk, senior at your school. Very quiet, never held a conversation with him before.

You tried to seem as strangerly as possible

"Yeah, you can follow me"

You guided him a little down the stairs in the back to the area with all the collectibles

"We are closing in an hour , but everything here is more of a sit down and read. There's records , cd's. Anything that's for sale would have a green sticker "

The boy began looking through everything

"Oh shit! No way you have Black Cat and Human Torch"
He seemed surprised by your collection

"Yeah, there's a few good ones in there"

"A few? You're literally carrying all the best ones!"

You checked your watch and struggled to make a decision on letting him stay longer or kicking him out

Instead you took a few seconds to watch the guy geek out over the comics you once geeked over too.

The boy was around 5'7, dark curly hair that went a little below his shoulders

He was cute.

"I have to stay and clean, so  take your time. The red marked comics are usually the best ones"
You flashed a quick smile and left out

Around 25 mins later you could hear the boy slowly make his way up the stairs

"Hey, how come in school I never see you in the library?"

You were taken aback and hesitated an answer

"I'm Kirk, I'm a senior at East Rivers too . I'm not sure if you even know - "

"Yeah I know you. You play guitar. One of your bandmates smashed my aunts mailbox last spring"

"Yeah.." he scratched his head and awkwardly laughed

"I wasn't sure you even knew who I was" you admitted

"Of course, you made principle Marks do battle of the bands for us seniors. Our band won and we were able to get the right equipment to start doing shows because of you"

"Really?" You seemed more bashful the more he went on

"Really"
Kirk approached the counter and leaned his elbows on the counter

You felt like you were stuck in a trance

His deep brown eyes, long curly hair.

The way he tapped on the counter while looking at you, it matched your heartbeat that you could hear due to the silence

"Um, so I know the comics you were looking at werent particularly on sale. But whenever you want, you could always just borrow them"

His eyes lit up

"You mean that?" He smiled wide and then took a step back

"Shit , that's nuts! Thanks, if theres Um, anything I could do.. maybe in return?"
He scratched his head again
Nodding towards his awkwardness

"You could always come by and teach me something on guitar"

"You got it"

The next few minutes kirk grabbed a few comics and a book.

"To insure they're being well taken care of.." Kirk grabbed your arm and lightly pulled it towards him "Here's my number "

"And don't be a stranger, I know I hang around apes and dogs at school but feel free to steal me a way."

He slowly backed out and nodded the book at you

"I'll be sure to. Goodnight kirk"

"Goodnight y/n"
