Time For A Cure...

The mere minutes it took me to calm down felt like hours. Emotional pain and sorrow coursed through my mind and body as past tragedies re-entered my mind... CC's death, Nikki and Jake, Candy, Jayy, Jinxx, and Leo... My baby boy... And now... Now i've lost the rest of my family.

I turned around and started to punch and kick the metal walls. As I threw my tantrum, something large fell and smacked against the concrete ground, causing an ear-deafening sound. I jumped back in shock and placed my hand firmly over my mouth, to keep myself from yelling out in surprise. After I had calmed down I cautiously made my way over to the thing that had fallen on the ground.

Using what little light that was available, I saw that it was a large book, wrapped in brown leather. I reached out and picked up the book then placed it back on one of the tables. I looked at it and ran my fingers along the cover... It didn't have a title on it or anything, but the only thing that really caught my attention was the thick piece of black leather binding the book closed. Tilting my head slightly, I reached out and pulled the leather strap free from the book and opened it.

Everything was written in a different language, and by the looks of it, it had been written in different languages as well... I think there was Latin, Japanese, hell, I even think I saw somethings written in Taushiro... All these languages and no English!! Really??

I continued flipping through the pages until I finally reached the last page. There, I've finally found something written in English. I smiled and began to read, only to find that there were a ton of different ingredients, instructions, formulas, and materials. I read and re-read everything! It's a cure! Someone was actually working on a fucking cure!!!

But... There was only one problem.... THERE WAS ONE INGREDIENT STILL MISSING!!!! JUST ONE!!!

I read through the page again then flipped it over to reveal more writing on the back cover... "To whoever finds this... There is no cure, no hope, nothing... The one ingredient that we need is called Pixquay.. It's to rare to recreate and can only be found in the blood of some humans... Since all the humans in the world are mindless zombies and all the humans here don't have the drug in their blood we can't complete a cure... All we can do is live and wait, wait for death..."

I gripped onto the edge of the table as I read the paragraph once again.

"So... The cure is complete, but all it needs is... my blood..." I muttered as I reached over and took a hold of my arm.

I sighed softly and looked around the room, looking for a light switch... I searched for a few minutes but could only find a chain connecting to a lamp, I quickly switched it on and brought the book closer to the light. I read and gathered all the ingredients and materials then I followed the instructions to make the cure.

Hours past, sweat poured from my forehead as I stirred the contents in the cauldron... The liquid changed from green to blue and started to simmer instead of boil... I bit my lip as I watched the pot for a second then turned to look at the ingredients again. "3-4 pints of blood is needed from the patient... Whether it be drawn out by needle or an amputation may be needed.."

My eyes widened a little as I finished reading... There are 10 pints in an average adult human body... 3-4 pints will surely make me light-headed or make me pass out... And what if I can't stop the bleeding? What if I bleed out and die..? All these thoughts raced through my mind, but I finally took in a deep breath and started to look around once again. But I have to do this... This is the only way I can save my family and the rest of the world. It's a small price to pay in all honesty...

I sighed again as I pulled tighter on the band around the top of my arm. Once it was in place, I clenched my fist and picked up a needle filled with what little anesthetic I could find then pushed it into my vein... I pushed the plunger down and waited for my arm to go numb, even though it barely worked... My arm slowly started to lose all feeling after a couple of minutes, once it was numb enough I reached out an picked up a brand new saw....

I placed my arm out on the table and pressed the blade to my flesh... I bit my lip and buried the blade deep into my flesh and began to drag the blade forward and back, sawing the flesh apart and finally, slowly, going through the bone... Now... Words can't even begin to describe the unimaginable pain I was in. Even with the anesthetic it still hurt like a motherfucker... But, i'm just going to leave it at that and let your mind imagine all the rest, sound good? Great!

My arm finally fell off and into the cauldron, causing the liquid to turn into a dark red color and even made the smoke turn red... I watched the pot as I wrapped up my stub... Once it was well bandaged, I quickly pulled up the cauldron by it's handles and raced out the back door and outside into the mid-morning air... Taking in a deep breath and ignoring the siring pain in my arm, I climbed under a large opening in the fence and raced towards a large tower located far off in the distance...
