*Mitch's POV*

Come on.

Open.

Come on, you can do it.

Open... up!

Dang it.

Well that didn't work.

I try to move.

Wow, it feels like I'm dying.

Probably because I am.

I hear chatter in my room.

I try to make out the voice.

Kevin?

It's Kevin.

Okay, so I'm not dead.

Unless Kevin is dead, too.

Okay.

I have to open my eyes and see what's going on.

I lift my fingers.

"Mitch?" Kevin seems to approach me.

I lift my hand.

"Mitch! Can you hear me?"

I try to squeeze his hand.

Come on, Mitch.

I put all my force into it and lightly grasp his hand.

His voice cracks. "I'm going to get the others."

I lift my other hand off the bed.

Can my eyes just open? Come on!

I relax my entire body and manage to flutter open an eyelid.

I open both of my eyes slowly and wince at the light.

The door opens and I try to turn my head.

Neck brace.

I see that my left arm and leg are broken, too.

"Mitch!" Scott cries.

He's in a wheelchair.

What... what's going on?

"Um, hey." I try to sit up but groan in agony.

"Stay down. How are you feeling?" Scott asks.

"B-better." I say and Scott sighs in relief.

"You can talk."

"Wh-what happened?" I ask as Kirstie and Kevin come through the door.

"A car hit the bus. We're all okay, though... kinda..." Scott trails off at the end.

"What? Who... got hurt?" I say, wincing at my splitting headache.

"Avi is getting some wounds stitched up and I... I'm in this wheelchair. Forever."

My heart dropped at that statement.

Scott never being able to walk again?

I can't imagine.

His eyes fill up with tears. "I'm sorry, Mitch."

"No... don't ap-ap... apologize." I say, struggling with the longer word.

Avi comes in the room with stitches and a boot on his foot.

Kirstie has her arm in a cast and a neck brace.

Scott has a broken arm and his legs...

You don't want to know how bad they looked.
