⟫ Introduction

Hello, hello! 

I am sure that this book suddenly popping up on my profile comes as a surprise to some of you. In fact, I hope it does, because I wanted it to be a little surprise release. XD

But alas, welcome to If You Forget! It's my beloved little novella that I completed back in May, and I'm currently in the process of rewriting it. So, yes, what you'll see here is essentially a second draft (and much improved one at that). However, it's still far from perfect, so before we begin, I just wanted to let you know that I'm totally open to constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement. But pls be nice, this bookie and me are very fragile—

So, since I like to start from the very beginning and ramble a bit about how any of my ideas came to be, here's a little backstory of IYF! I originally got the idea for this novella back in the summer of 2018, which was... over 4 years ago. At the time, I really liked what I had in mind, but I was still very young and not overly experienced as a writer (not saying I'm a stellar writer now, either), and I was completely aware of my capabilities and limitations, so I knew I wouldn't do the story justice if I started writing it right away. Furthermore, if I kept writing some very rough and cringey drafts, I would've probably started hating it eventually, and I wanted to avoid that, so I told myself I'll start writing it sometime in the future, when I feel like I can execute the idea properly.

Cue nearly 4 years later, when I decided to pick this idea up again. I started working on it back in February, and the very rough first draft was done in mid-May. I've had my fair share of struggles writing it, but I was done, and before I even had the time to take a breath after completing my first draft, I knew it desperately needed a rewrite. XD So here we are!

I'm still working on the second draft and slowly picking up the pace, so I decided to post this in hopes that the pressure of updating it and sharing it with people will make me rewrite it faster. And, speaking of updates... those are going to be wonky. Fair warning. 

I will post the first two chapters now, and after that, I'll mostly update in small batches without a fixed updating schedule. Or, well... half-fixed I guess? After the first two chapters, I'm going to update up to chapter 5, then chapter 6. These ones will probably be updated in the next couple of days, possibly even by this Sunday. And when we kick things off with that, I'll post the next 3 chapters (up to chapter 9) when I'm done with them, and after that, I'll just update on Sundays with whatever I have written throughout the week, and I'll keep that going until I finish the second draft. Although, keep in mind that this novella won't have way too many chapters (17 if we count the epilogue), and my goal is to finish the second draft by the end of the month, so I'm aiming for only 4-5 update days until the end. Apologies for any potential spam notifs for those who add this book to their libraries <3

If by the time you're reading this note this book has 16 chapters + epilogue + author's note at the end, and is marked as completed, then this doesn't concern you. You have luckily evaded my binge-updates :D

I don't have much more to say now, except that I hope you enjoy the book! This is the first story I've ever completed (even though the first draft sucked badly), and it means so so much to me!
