The drive back is once again silent

The drive back is once again silent. My head is tilted towards the tinted glass, and I'm quietly singing along to the song playing from the stereo. My eyes meet my reflection on the glass, a small smile fixed on my face as my fingers run through my new hair.
At least I look a little different. I feel a little different too.
"You know, Damon and I have a really tight relationship" I hear April say.
My insides tingle with excitement finally hearing her voice.
"And It's not like the normal mother and son bond, ours is quite different and way more special than that" she laughs "I can't believe you'll be taking him away from me soon"
I laugh nervously, shifting into a more comfortable position "neither did I" I say underneath my breath, fidgeting with my fingers.
"But I guess desperate times do call for desperate measures" she chuckles.
The smile melts off my face and I feel like a fool once again. A fool for everything.
"Anyway" she tucks the loose strands of russet locks behind her ear "I have a question for you" "what is it?" I ask adjusting again.
"So, you smoke?"
"Excuse me?" I turn to her "I asked if you smoke?" She repeats lifting her wafer thin brows.
I narrow my eyes slightly then look away "yes" I reply "so?"
"Nothing. I just have a problem with ladies that smoke" she says, irritation clear in her voice "you have to quit that habit completely if you're getting married to my son."
My stomach churns causing a sick feeling in my guts and I can't contain it "I mean you can't be a smoker and want to marry my son. I'd rather have a girl who is -"
I shake my head, chuckling quietly but loud enough for her to hear. I'm sick of this my son thing.
"you really think I want to get married to your son? I get he's your son, okay? I get it. But fuck, do you think I want this?"
The questions fly out of my mouth like spitting poison as I turn to her. "This. This is bullshit" April's eyes are wide and for a moment they glitter but I cannot be deceived again. Not twice.
Even with the few words said, the tension in the air is so thick it could be cut with a knife.
"What do you mean?" She looks me up and down in question, her lip forming a curl. I meet the drivers eyes staring at me from the rear view mirror "you can pull over"
He does as he's told, the car screeching as it comes to a stop and without another word I climb out and take my leave, Following my legs wherever they take me and not daring to look back.
What the hell was I thinking? She'll be different? Fuck me.
I inhale the cool night breeze, goosebumps appearing on my skin as I slowly breathe out. I reach for my purse and pull out a cigarette, lighting it and taking a few draws.
I'm not gonna cry.
I rub the back of my neck enjoying the soft feel of my skin. At least the hours spent at the spa was worth it.

The Lights flashing from a building is alluring. Somewhat compelling me into it. I watch as a group of girls stumble out, giggling and staggering down a dark alley.
I smile. "new club in town" I throw the cigarette on the concrete pavement, crushing it as I make my way towards the building.
Music burst through the speakers in the almost dark room, crowded with people dancing and drinking. The scent of strawberries fills the air and to my guess it's hookah. I take in a deep breath, slowly letting it out as i walk in the direction of the bar then order a shot of vodka. The bartender returns, giving me a small smile as she drops the glass "thank you"
She leans forward, so close I could see how her pupils were dilated "you're so hot baby girl" I roll my eyes "screw off" she narrows her eyes at me then turns away.
I take a sip from the glass, tapping my polished nails on the bar to the beat of the song playing. A burn spreads across my chest, my hair prickling the back of my shoulder as I bend back swallowing hard.
After a few more shots I allow myself relax and let the drink course through me. Taking over everything. My thoughts, my mind and then my body.

A familiar song starts playing and I'm dancing with full audacity, swaying my hips to the beat. The music is beguiling and somewhat slow, lacking intimacy but strong and rhythmic. My head is light and I'm thinking of nothing as hands grab me. Usually I would've been pissed at being touched but tonight I'm not. Instead I pull them around me grinding against the stranger, moving from one to another. That careless feeling flowing through my body.
I slowly rub my ass against him, a smirk plastered on my face when I hear him groan. He grabs my hips pulling me further into him, guiding my motion.
I move away from the tall built man to dance on my own, not minding the lustful eyes watching me. Beads of sweat form on my forehead as I keep dancing, my vision almost blurry due to the adrenaline rush. A particular scent fills my nostrils and next thing my back is once again on the hard chest of some man.
His hand runs down my spine as I move my waist in slow rotations. He turns me to face him, my breasts pressed against his chest as he pulls me closer. I look up to meet his blue eyes, watching me with so much thirst and desire. He leans down and crashes his lips with mine, holding me in place as he deepens the kiss. I kiss him back, no tug of attraction attached, no sparks. Nothing. It would have been good if there was though at least then I would feel something.
My fingers run through his hair then down his arms, my fingers digging into his biceps.
He pulls away staring down at me, his eyes a darker blue and hooded.
"Tell me your name" he orders.
I look around standing on my toes with my mouth to his jaw "my name... Hmm, my name is none of your business"
I giggle then lick his earlobe, adjusting the tie around his neck before I turn to leave.
He seizes my elbow holding me back, a smirk on his face as he moves in front of me. He slides a card into my hand, his eyes not leaving mine as he releases his grip "call me"
I smile at him, stroking his cheek with my thumb "I'll think about it handsome"
I roll my eyes as I walk away from him, tossing the card into the trash as I leave the building.
